My little girls haven't seen the film yet but the ship is huge and they loved it as soon as they saw it. They fight over who's shooting the missiles out of the plane. The cockpit was a little complicated to get buzz in, but my husband and two little girls were playing together. The toy comes with loads of little bits that attach to the plane, but it's really detailed and now sits pride of place in my husbands game room. Firstly is was a nice surprise to see just how well-made and solid the toy both looks and feels. The plastics are of a nice quality and the design is satisfyingly intricate with moving parts that open and close, as well as shoot hidden spring-loaded objects. The included Buzz Lightyear action figure fits snugly inside the cockpit and can eject with a lever pull, (Very fun). The landing wheels don&rsquo;t roll which is a slight oversight, but doesn&rsquo;t take much away from the experience. We love the quality and imagination and hope Mattel will continue in this direction with all other toys in the future. My kids were pleasantly surprised by the size of it and that it's large enough for them to play together. I love that unlike other toys of this nature is that there isn't batteries/sound. My kids seem to use a lot more imaginative play with it than other similar toys that light up/make sounds. My sons favorite part are the missiles, but they are a little small so you have to pay attention to where they go so they don't get lost. The vehicle is bigger than I first expected. They especial liked the missiles that shoot from the wings. As a mom, I appreciated that there are multiple missiles and a place to hold each one. I also like that it doesn't make any noises (requires no batteries), but still holds my kids attention. It requires some parent assembly initially, but the directions are pretty straight forward and the parts snap on fairly easily. The handle/lever at the back of the XL-15 works well to open up or close the cockpit. It did take a little more pressure than initially anticipated to get it to close all of the way. The Buzz Lightyear figure can stand easily on his own on a flat surface. When his jetpack is on, it is a little trickier to get him balanced, but we found that if we have him lean a little bit forward at the waist he will stand. Our favorite part was definitely the missile launchers. They consistently launched about 6-8 feet in front of the XL-15. I am glad that it comes with a couple extra missiles, as I am pretty sure some will be lost eventually by my kiddos with the amount of use it will get. A close second for favorite features was how fun it is to load Buzz into the XL-15. First you secure his feet and fold back the wings of his jetpack. Then attach the clamp, which looks like a robotic arm, to his waist and push the handle in the back of the XL-15 back in. Buzz quickly gets moved into a supine position and the cockpit closes around him. So cool! My kids love Toy Story and all things space related. The vehicle itself is large and sturdy and begs to be played with. Adult assembly is definitely required as some pieces need a bit of effort to snap together. I wasn't expecting the size of the plane to be on this larger scale which my son really enjoys, but it's really a two hand kind of toy. The feature that allows Buzz to break out of the canopy and extend his jet pack is really fun! My 5 y/o got a bit frustrated with trying to keep the canopy closed and as a result, decided to leave it off of the plane all together. The projectile missiles shoot out with quite a bit of force and therefore have good range! The Buzz Lightyear action figure is nice and sturdy and well detailed. I don't much like that Buzz's helmet is removable. Given it's small size, smooth dome, and rigid base, I feel this could become troublesome around younger siblings, or children who often put toys in their mouths, as well as the unsuspecting adult who happens to step on it. The Jetpack has a really fun feature, but I feel like the mechanism that holds them back or &quot;closed&quot; is too sensitive, which doesn't allow it to hold very well. This was another thing that was frustrating for my child; trying to maneuver the action figure with jetpack into the pilot's seat can be a bit cumbersome for small hands/fingers especially when trying to close the canopy. Even I struggled a couple of times to get the canopy to stay closed with Buzz and Jetpack in place. Our biggest complaint is that the tab that keeps the ship closed is just a hair too short so it is difficult to keep the door closed and actively play with it. It has led to some frustration for the 4 year old. The other issue is Buzz&rsquo;s helmet does not stay on. The vehicle comes with a couple of pieces you need to attach but the setup is a breeze - simply click on the one wing, the rocket boosters, and stabilizers and you are ready for action. My son loves the retractable landing gear you can flip up and down. Buzz has a removable helmet and wings that can be folded back. He can be removed from the vehicle to play with on his own and a highlight of the toy is a lever on the back that allows Buzz to spring into action from a seated position in his spacecraft. The vehicle itself shoot projectiles from the front of each of the wings. There is storage for more projectiles on the back of the wing. We have had fun making targets to launch the projectiles at. This is a great toy for any Buzz Lightyear fan. He couldn&rsquo;t wait to open it and it&rsquo;s quickly become his new favorite toy. It&rsquo;s got a lot of playability with the spaceship and my only critique would be the cockpit is hard for a little kid to grasp. The mechanical opening and closing of it is very cool, but he has a hard time doing it himself. Buzz has been in the bath tub and flown all over the house. The only momentary difficulty we had at first was explaining to my 4 year old that you have to align the missile correctly before it can shoot.
