My child loved how unique and interactive it was. We really enjoyed discovering the magic secrets together, in order to discover the doll. The doll itself is really great too, high quality, fun outfit, just fun all around to play with. It does seem like the spellbook is a little bit big... our home is small so space is at a premium. His favorite color is red which immediately drew him to the toy. After opening the cookbook, there were fun spells that can be cast to make slime, fizzy potions, and unlock a surprise! The steps of the spells were easy to follow and packaging was included to help contain any mess. While the toy was entertaining, there wasn't much to do with the cookbook after the spells are cast. When initially opening the cookbook, the secret door was open which kind of ruined the surprise. My daughter is not old enough to read yet, but was able to follow the picture directions for the recipes Recipe #1 mixing the slime powder with water using the included cup and bowl. The directions say it may take 6 minutes, however for us it only took 2 minutes. Recipe #2 mixing a fizzy ball with water to reveal the hidden surprise, a small key to unlock the doll compartment. My 5 year old loves dolls and loves Disney. She was so excited to have this new doll from the movie she just watched but the packaging is what made it even more amazing. It comes in a plastic book shaped package and when you open it there are a few &ldquo;spells&rdquo; to do. She LOVED this fun surprise! She followed the spell to make slime and to make a key appear that opens the compartment where the doll is stored. There is also a clothing item that color changes. These fun magical features make the doll so much fun and make opening the packaging memorable. It took her about 20 minutes to complete the projects inside. She was especially mesmerized by the fizzy ball that revealed the key needed to unlock the Red doll. Even though you can only do the projects one time, she&rsquo;s played with the doll and book so much! She loves locking and unlocking Red as well as making her own &quot;potions&quot; in the mixing cup with kitchen ingredients. Her only disappointment is that the color changing skirt turns back to its regular color quickly, but she still requested the blue set with Chloe too. I love that she can store everything back inside the book when she's finished. My daughter loved that the doll was a surprise Red doll and she had to do &rdquo;recipes&rdquo; to unlock the doll. She loved making the red slime that left a hint of glitter on her hands after playing with it. She also loved watching the second recipe fizz until the key to unlock her new doll was exposed. This gave off a slight floral smell and did bubble over the provided purple cup; however, the spill over never left the provided tray and left me with minimal to no clean up! We did have some red transfer on our fingers with our second recipe but no staining and it all washed off with soap and water with the first try. After unlocking the doll my daughter was excited to see that Reds skirt can also change colors with water (recipe 3). Overall this toy was packaged so well and left me with minimal cleanup / mess.
