As a first time mom-to-be, I have not had any experience with other diaper pail products to compare to. I can say this, the pail was very easy to set up and use and I appreciate its compact design as it does not take up too much space in the room. Although compact, it still seems like it should hold a decent amount of diapers. The only downside I can see is that it does not have a foot pedal to open the lid so if hands are full that makes things more difficult. Since our sweet little babe has not arrived yet I have not been able to test out the product fully. I love that the diaper genie came with 5 different sleeve options. I enjoy the variety of colours and patterns so you can choose one that fits your style. They are easy to put on and remove and can be easily cleaned in the wash. We decided to not to find out what we are having so I am currently using the grey sleeve which matches nicely with the rest of our gender neutral nursery. Prior to using this pail, I&rsquo;ve always just thrown my daughter&rsquo;s dirty diapers into the bathroom trash can after changing her diaper. Even though my trash can has a lid on it, it still left a sewage smell in my bathroom. We also had to empty out the trash can quite frequently because it was a bit on the smaller side and also because it made my bathroom reek of dirty diapers. Here are my thoughts and experience with the new Diaper Genie Expressions Pail: I love the look and design. The shape is very sleek and modern. The fabric d&eacute;cor sleeves are also a nice touch to personalize the pail and it also fits in nicely with my daughter&rsquo;s nursery and d&eacute;cor. I love that there are 5 different fabric sleeves to choose from. I used the Grey Clovers sleeve, but will be switching it up to the Pink and Grey sleeve soon to give my daughter&rsquo;s nursery a fresh new look! The diaper pail itself is also very simple to set up and use, is very compact and holds a lot of diapers so that I don&rsquo;t have to take out the trash as frequently as before. And the most important feature is that it does a great job in containing and controlling the odours very well. I can happily say that there is no sewage smell lingering around after popping a dirty diaper into the pail or when I have to empty out the garbage now like it did when I was using the trash can. I can confidently say that since we&rsquo;ve starting using the Diaper Genie Diaper pail, there is no turning back. You can easily wash the fabrics as they are machine washable. I love how the Diaper Gene Expressions has this new double secure odor lock system, so that NO odor escapes! I am using this as a secondary pail on my main floor. It's perfect for this use as it's smaller/shorter than other diaper genie's and it has the option to put on the designer fabric sleeves to make it look a little fancier than your average diaper genie, which is ideal if it's in your living room like mine is! The sleeves are such good quality that I was joking that these were the diaper genie's clothes to my daughter! lol I personally wouldn't use this as my main diaper genie as I prefer the Elite with the foot petal which allows you to throw in the diaper without touching anything. To put a dirty diaper in the expressions pail, you have to press the button to pop the lid up and then push the diaper through the &quot;Push-N-Lock Clamp,&quot; this keeps odours inside wonderfully, but it's not ideal if you're dealing with a messy diaper situation! It would be great if the clamp would open and drop the diaper into the pail when your close the lid, instead of having to push it through. I love the different colourful sleeves for this diaper pail. There are 5 to choose from so there's bound to be something that will look good in your baby's nursery. The sleeves are washable and easy to change if you want a new look. You can also choose to keep it plain white. The Expressions pail is smaller than my previous Elite system, but does a great job keeping in the smells. I found I had to empty it every day (sometimes twice), but I have twins in diapers so that's not unusual for us. Compared to a step pail, I found this one a little less convenient to use. The push button on the lid is easy to use, but I found you sometimes needed to use an extra wipe to keep your hand clean when pushing the dirty diapers through the clamp. I just love the fact that you can customize it according to your nursery, or even what mood you are in. One day I had the pink design sleeve on it, a couple of days later I changed it to another one. I like that it's easy to use, easy to put the design sleeves on, and comes with one starter refill! You do have to buy the sleeve's separately but it's worth it. I was getting sick of the boring old white diaper genie I had here, it was time for one that can be customized! I am really impressed and glad I got to try this product out! Another great feature is that it can hold up to 50 newborn diapers, and it's easy to empty and reload! We have owned two Playtex Diaper Genies and like both of them for different reasons. Both have been great in locking out any odors so big plus on that! What we love specifically about the Expressions Diaper Genie is how small and compact it is without compromising on storage as it holds up to 50 diapers. We also love that you can buy a stylish cover sleeve to help camouflage the pail in your nursery or any other part of your home. The cover sleeves have lots of options including gender neutral options. The best part about these sleeves, aside from their stylish look, is that they are machine washable - love that! The reason I only gave the Expressions Genie 4 stars is because I prefer the foot pedal on the other genie rather than the push button on the Expression. I often have one hand on baby while putting a diaper in the genie so having to push a button just makes things more of a juggling act. The second reason is that I prefer our genie hold as many diapers as possible (our other genie can hold up to 270 diapers). We live in a townhouse complex with a ton of stairs to the garbage so we want to go as few times as possible. That being said, if you are looking for a smaller option that is more stylish the Expression is for you! I have used 3 different Diaper Genies over the last 4 years. Although there are many features I really like about the Diaper Genie Expressions, I am not sure that it would be my favourite. Pros: - easy to set up - love that it is customizable with the sleeves - the sleeves were very good quality. I expected cheap, plastic ones, but they were made of a nice, solid fabric - holds a lot of diapers - keeps bad odors at bay - great price Cons: - it is shorter than previous Diaper Genie versions...noticeably so for someone tall like me - my favourite feature is missing....the step to open the pail. When your hands are full with a dirty, messy diaper, the last thing I want to do is push a button with my hand to dispose of the waste - the diaper trap is well constructed, very sturdy. However, this is a con because I need to push the diaper down and help it move itself into the pail. Again a problem if you have a really dirty diaper. I wish that the trap would release itself when you closed the lid. For the designer look, the price and helping with odors, the Diaper Genie Expressions is a winner. The best part about the Diaper Genie Expressions is that it's customizable, with different sleeves to match the decor in the room (we went with the grey pattern to keep things fairly neutral). The sleeves help the Genie blend in with the room, so it's unobtrusive. I love that they're fabric -- this makes it look less like a diaper pail and more like it could be a clothes hamper or something, which is nice. And on the practical side, there's no smell! This is extremely important since we're pretty slovenly and therefore aren't emptying it daily. I have always been a fan of having a system to dispose of the diapers as it makes life so much easier. I recently have switched over to the new Playtex Diaper Genie Expressions and I couldn't be more pleased! This system is absolutely wonderful. It is compact but fits a decent amount of diapers, it is so easy to use, you do not have to put anything together as it comes all ready for you and most important it keeps the smell in. I love how simple it is to open the lid to dispose of the diaper. Even my 2 year old loves opening and closing it for mommy. I would have to say my favorite thing about the Diaper Genie Expressions is the sleeves! Such a fun and clever idea!
