I have gone through at least 3 mugs over the years and only replace them for cosmetic reasons. This most recent mug was received for fathers day and for the first time in many years I am disappointed. I immediately noted the insulation did not work as well as the mug was warm to the touch and within a couple hours my drink is lukewarm at best. I tested this directly against my old mug which far out performs the new one. Not sure what has changed with the design or manufacturing but I can no longer recommend the updated West Loop. However, after purchasing this one in a stainless steel finish from a local Walgreens, I can safely say that this is the absolute best drink container I have ever owned. Cleaning the lid by hand is a little tedious, but putting it in the dishwasher works out pretty well. It fits pretty much everywhere, my coffee stays hot for hours, and it has never leaked on me. The giver knew that I drink coffee every morning and thought it would be a great gift. They were spot on this has been my go to cup for coffee every morning for the past 6 to 7 years. I now have a collection of these cups because I retire the current cup every year on my birthday. Now I have tried others tumblers which I have did a side by side comparison, the Autoseal and Snapseal by Contigo and the 16 oz Coffee with flex sip by Hydro Flask. When it comes to safe vehicle operation the Autoseal wins hands down , there is no comparison to the ease of operation while driving or operating heavy machinery. This is the main area of concern for myself and my circle of friends. As far as the temperature of the beverage over time, the style and colors, construction all three product are close enough that it would be considered a tie in all other categories. The reason the Snapseal comes in behind the Autoseal is the Snapseal is very hard to open at time with one hand, I have been using the current one for a month and it is still difficult to open at times. Also there is a particular way that I have to drink coffee out of the Snap seal or it burns my lip. With the Autoseal it is a first time every time easy push of the button with one hand operation and it doesn't require any special lip positioning by the user. If you are a desk jokey then either of the products will suffice your morning java needs. I have issues with my grip strength and will randomly drop things. This is awful when it comes to beverages. Because you need to press the button in order to open up the flow, I rarely spill anything when I drop it. The metal outside is so helpful as well. My mugs are all dinged up but they still work perfectly. The only down side is that the tiny piece of rubber that seals the mug tends to wear or and can even start to mold. I do smoky out the cup and rinse it out but it starts to mold in cracks of the rubber piece. I had been removing it to clean but then it started to rip apart. I have not been able to find just that piece for replacement. It is still worth it for me to purchase new ones though. The money I save on spilled coffee and broken mugs is well worth it.
