Thanks to the stellar product testing panel, I was able to give my oldest back his convertible seat (made it a booster) and was able to upgrade my youngest to this one! My first impressions were that this thing is sturdy. It&rsquo;s very heavy (as I feel all britax seats are) and was made to last. The material felt nice, the straps were great quality and the extra pads (buckle and strap covers) were really soft. Then it was time to install. This was really the reason why I gave it 4 stars. At first I thought you could only use your cars seatbelt to secure it. After about 30 min, I finally had found the latch straps. These latch straps are the easy attach/unattachnkomd which is super nice. I also apparently installed the latch straps part (where it goes through the seat) wrong. My husband said it goes in front of the panel, where I swore the instructions said the panel keeps it in place and goes behind it. I don&rsquo;t know. I just don&rsquo;t think the instructions are very clear and it doesn&rsquo;t install the same way others have installed. Like I mentioned above, this is for my 3 yo. He tends to fall asleep in the car a lot. With his other seat, I was able to keep it reclined a bit so it was comfortable for him to sleep. With this seat, he doesn&rsquo;t seem to be very comfortable. It does have a two positions, but they are still too upright for a kid who would use the harness, and falls asleep a lot. He does love the cup holders. It&rsquo;s really easy for him to reach and get his cups out. Also has a little spot for small toys or his car paci as he calls it. The car seat being reviewed is being used for our 2 year old who is just under 3&rsquo;; she was 25 lbs at her last check-up 8 months ago so not sure how much she weighs now. In addition to a Britax B-Safe Infant Car Seat that our kids have grown out of, we own two different brands of car seats that are not to be disclosed--and this is in addition to one other brand we've used in the grandparents' cars belonging to cousins. We had done a TON of research before acquiring the car seats we've had in our stable. We were pleasantly surprised to have received this attractive Harness to Booster Seat from the Stellar Product Testing Panel. Generally, there is a lot of (understandable) grumbling from my husband on having to install car seats, but I did not hear a peep from him this time around. In interviewing him for this review, he responded that it was the easiest car seat to install, hands down. Trust me when I say that I know that this has nothing to do with the fact that he's installed and reinstalled so many car seats during the kids' lifetimes that he's become a natural at it, because installing a car seat apparently is not the same as getting back on a bike again--you never get use to it. The car seat that we chose to retire had served both of our children well, but it was chosen to be retired for the Harness to Booster Seat because it was this large bucket seat that made inserting and retrieving the kids a struggle. Maybe our 2 year old was just having a really good morning, but she literally jumped at the chance to climb into her new Harness to Booster Seat the first morning after we had the car seat installed. I think she may have been excited that it looked more like a big girl car seat like her sister's car seat right next to hers. It was extremely easy to insert our 2 year old in and it was the easiest car seat to buckle our kids into by far. Difficult to assess the safety features until the worst happens but the safety features appear very standard and satisfactory. The cup and snack holders are a nice bonus as they have been heavily utilized in our family so that we don't have to turn around and hand food to our child while the vehicle is in motion. Overall, we felt that our satisfaction of the Harness to Booster Seat was far superior to that of all the car seats we've tried. The first thing I love is that it was instantly ready to install straight out of the box with no setup required. The next thing that I liked was how easy it was to install into the car. I used a seatbelt to install it and loved that there was a clear path of where the belt went and, while other carseat belt paths require that you cram your hand into a tiny space to pass the belt through, I could pull the belt through this path without any injuries to my hand. I have since uninstalled and reinstalled it to different seats in my car and each time and grateful for how easy it is to move! My daughter finds the seat very comfortable and loves all the cupholders. The harness is easy to loosen and tighten and does not require using superhuman strength to properly tighten it. The only complaint I have for this carseat is the adjustment for the best fit. I have 3 kids in car seats and they occasionally swap seats. I put my son in the seat and had a hard time lowering the headrest to an appropriate height for him. After a brief struggle I was able to lower it and then later raising it to my daughters height was a breeze. This is the only part of the seat though that does not seem as smooth. I used it for my 5 year old son and will continue to use it over his other car seat. He uses it in the harness mode. I tend to try to figure things out myself before looking at an instruction manual. I like when products are pretty self explanatory. This car seat was quite simple to install. It's definitely a hefty seat so I had my husband place it where I needed it, but I was able to do the maneuvering needed to get it securely installed. I just had to do some digging behind a panel to find the LATCH straps and connectors. Once I found those it was fairly easy to get those connected, along with the tether in the back. That can all be quite the workout but I didn't find it that difficult with this seat. I was impressed with how little the car seat moved once installed, as I've had to struggle with other car seats to get to that point where they felt safe enough, with little wiggle room. My favorite part of this car seat is how comfortable it is for my son. The first time using it we had to be in the car for a total of 5 hours that day and he didn't complain once. Every parent knows how frustrating it can be to have your child miserable and whining to get out while you're driving. Thankfully we have not had that problem with this seat. I also appreciate the padded disc that goes around the bottom buckle. Always a good feature when you're trying to be careful with using the buckle between a boy's legs. It does slip off pretty easily though when your kid gets out of the seat. I have found it on the floor a few times. I found the adjustment of the straps and the headrest easy to use. I think the one thing I wasn't impressed with is how the straps and chest clip felt. They feel flimsier than our other car seats. That could be possibly one of the reasons it feels more comfortable to my child, but is slightly concerning in how well they would hold up on impact. Not a deal breaker, just something to take note of. I do appreciate the sturdiness of the steel frame though. My favorite thing about this seat has to be the reclining feature; most high back boosters sit up straight, so if you have a toddler who falls asleep in the car this feature will be perfect for you. It reclines almost the same amount as a standard convertible carseat does. It was super easy to install and easy to adjust the straps to have the proper fit. It also has pads for the neck/shoulder area and the tummy area, which my son and myself absolutely love. This car seat is a little bit on the heavy side, but I would 100% sacrifice that for how safe and comfortable it is. I have 100% peace of mind with this seat. I have 3 children in car seats, all old enough to be forward facing, though we've kept the youngest rear-facing for now. My older 2 are school-age and may soon be resuming carpools (pending policies for the pandemic), and using a booster will be helpful for transferring to different cars, so we've started the process of looking into boosters vs fully-fledged car seats. The 2-in-1 design makes that an easier and more economical process. Being quite versed in setting up and installing seats, I found that process to be fairly simple, though I made sure to read the manual so I wouldn't miss any important details. The seat worked beautifully for all 3 children, and the straps are easy to adjust to fit different sizes, not to mention the no-rethread harness for height adjustment. I also appreciate the extra padding between the buckle and child to prevent accidentally pinching the child (ouch!). (I've tried another seat/booster combo, and the crotch buckle was set too far back so that my small kids can barely fit. We had no problems remotely similar with this Britax model!) The clips seem a bit lacking on this model, in that I do anticipate the straps getting twisted fairly easily (hasn't happened yet), whereas the more expensive models have pieces to prevent that. My 6 yo was able to open and close the harness, my 4.5 yo could not (that's true of other seats, too). My children are light enough to use the latch system, which makes installation breezy. I do wish they'd print the latch weight limits on the side of the seat so parents won't have to remember to refer to the manual as their children grow. I tested it with my 5 1/2 year old as he was previously sitting in a Pioneer which is probably an older model of this. It looked pretty much the same, but the new fabric seems way better. It&rsquo;s advertised as washable, but I haven&rsquo;t had the need to remove it to wash. The things I like most about the car seat are: 1) the easily adjustable head rest (that the shoulder straps are connected to) that made finding the right height super easy. It&rsquo;s also nice if you think you&rsquo;d be using it interchangeably between kids, because it can make it fit a shorter or taller kid so quickly; 2) the easy install, since I already owned a similar car seat I was familiar with the installation process. There&rsquo;s no trying to push your hand through a tunnel to get the strap across, you just lift some seat panels up and slide the seat belt in; 3) the built-in cup holders are nice, they&rsquo;re a part of the frame so it doesn&rsquo;t stick out and are a good size to fit a big water bottle; 4) the arm rests are a nice feature for older kids. My kid started to miss his arm rests in his travel car seat and I think it&rsquo;s because his arms are getting longer and wants to rest his elbows on something. Some of the smaller details that I appreciated were that the car seat can sit up straight on its own so when you&rsquo;re unpacking it and waiting to put it in the car it doesn&rsquo;t just fall on the floor; there&rsquo;s a loop on the anchor strap to tie up the excess strap; and it&rsquo;s not too heavy. Now on to some of the things I didn&rsquo;t like so much, which weren&rsquo;t many. First is the size, it felt a little wide to me. The pieces outside the head rest flare out, taking up more space in the car. I have two kids in front-facing car seats so that empty middle seat is really narrow. Second, the shoulder strap pads seem pretty thin. Third, and this is probably a rare situation, there&rsquo;s an elastic piece on the crotch flap/cushion that came undone so it slipped off the buckle and I&rsquo;ll have to sew it back on. This happened probably 3 days after use, an easy fix, but something you wouldn&rsquo;t want to do after such a short time. Fourth, the recline is not that much of a recline. My kids head will fall to the side head rest and then forward and bob around after he falls asleep. Overall, I thought it was a great car seat and had both a 5 and 2 year old fighting to sit in, so that says something. Thankfully, the Stellar Product Testing Panel, sent us our latest Britax Grow with you Harness-2-Booster Car Seat. Being familiar with the Britax brand made it easy to install. Much easier than other brands. I did have to fully adjust the straps to fit our toddler, which wasn't very easy but not too difficult. The color works well for either boys or girls. Our toddler loved having the 2 cup holders because now he was in a seat like his older sisters and can use one for his drink and the other for his toys. Unfortunately, we haven't been driving around too much (thanks COVID) so I don't know how our child would do on a longer drive. I like that the safety features for this car seat meet the highest expectations without making it a big bulky car seat. I would definitely recommend the Harness-2-Booster Car Seat for all families with toddlers. The car seat has a steel frame which you can feel in weight when you pick it up but I like the added safety feature. My kids enjoy cup holders and we go on long car trips so that was a must on any car seat I would look for. I thought my daughter would dislike the car seat the first time I was adjusting it to fit her (easier than I thought it would be) but she preferred it over her prior one and said she was very comfortable. I will tell you about the seat, things we liked, and things that we think could have been done better. Starting with things we liked, it is an easily adjustable car seat as far as height of the headrest and harness belts, with one button easily making adjustments and clicking into place easily. The harness is also easily tightened and loosened without issue. I liked that the tether was more of a V shape coming from either side of the seat, rather than the straight belt coming from the middle that I am used to. Seems like it would keep the seat a little more stable, but I don&rsquo;t actually know. The seat installation was fairly straightforward, but I did have to try it twice to get it tight enough at the belt path. The other harness to booster seat we have is much easier to get right the first time. This car seat does have high safety ratings, which is of course the most important thing when purchasing a car seat of any kind for your child. My daughter, who is newly 5, said that this seat is comfortable, and she likes that there are 4 spaces in the cupholder area: two for cups, and two for toys or snacks. She filled them with &ldquo;important&rdquo; things of course. I like the all black fabric, as it blends inwell with my car seats. Now for the things I didn&rsquo;t like as much. This seat seems to be a little light on the padding and doesn&rsquo;t seem like it would be as comfortable for long rides as our other seat. The cover also seems like it would be hard to get off in the event you needed to clean it. The round pad around the crotch buckle seemed like a good idea, but it doesn&rsquo;t stay on at all and I&rsquo;m constantly having to fish it off the car floor and put it back on the belt. The main thing that I don&rsquo;t like is the head rest. It is loud; the headrest moves around a bit when you drive, and it makes this really annoying foam-squeaking noise. It is annoying for the child, and really annoying for the driver. I can&rsquo;t believe this wasn&rsquo;t something that they noticed in testing. You can physically wiggle it around when it is extended slightly which doesn&rsquo;t seem right, but apparently it is. Overall the Grow With You Harness-2-Booster is a good seat. It looks nice, has extra cupholder space, and an easy to use harness. However, I wouldn&rsquo;t get this again over the other harness to booster we already have. That is why I was really excited to try this car seat when it was sent to me from the Stellar Product Safety Panel. I was impressed by the steel frame, the five-point harness and the 2 layer side impact protection (I could even see how strong the side area where my son's head is in the seat), but I also love the fact that this was super easy to install, has four!! cup and snack holders (which is a God send for when we are trying to eat on the go) and two reclining positions. The top even extends so that I do not have to keep buying a new car seat every year as my two year old grows (like I did with my first child.) It also looks really sleek in my car. My two year old really likes it and loves putting his snacks and drink in the cup holders. There are a lot of really great points to the booster, but it's also not my favorite. What I loved is the lightweight and ease of installation. The seat has a narrow footprint and was able to fit in my second row bench seat next to an infant seat. I loved that! It's really easy to install and the padding moves easily so you can find the proper track. My daughter also loved the features and the padded armrests. The straps were long enough to fit her comfortably, and they adjusted easily. The seat does have some very specific regulations about how it fits with head rests. Luckily it worked in my car, but I could see how it might not work in vehicles with larger headrests- they would have to be removed. Overall, this is a great and easy seat to use in probably any vehicle. It also has Latch or strap installation, which is always a plus. What I didn't love. My daughter just didn't seem super comfortable in it. You can recline or leave it straight, so we tried both, and preferred recline. I think it's just a little less padded than other seats she's used to. It also was not extremely easy to get the padding back to a flat/normal layout once installing with the car belt. I would still recommend this seat, however, despite the few negative things I found while using it. For the safety, ease of installation, and features, it is well designed. Like other systems, press the button on top and pull up I had some difficulty adjusting the fastener between the legs. We needed to move it to the next bigger slot. I was thrilled to receive the Grow With You harness-2-booster seat as I had already done some research on this model. We have used Britax car seats for years and trust the brand and safety they offer. My husband installed the car seat in about 10 minutes. The instructions were fairly easy to follow. We&rsquo;re used to the click tight seats so we had a bit of a learning curve. We installed it using the seatbelt installation since my son is over the weight limit for the LATCH system. We are also using the harness feature for now. My son loves all the room the seat offers compared to his old seat. His favorite part are the arm rests and cup holders. He can have his snacks with him in his chair too since they have a holder as well. I love the feature of being able to take the cover off to clean it without having to take the whole seat out. Whoever came up with that feature needs a raise. Kids are messy. We also love how adjustable the seat is. The 9-position, quick-adjust harness &amp; headrest is a life saver. It makes it super easy to find the right setting. The overall size is great as it isn&rsquo;t too bulky. We have it installed with another car seat in the back of our mini van. The dark color is nice so the seat doesn&rsquo;t start looking dingy. The arm rests are super easy to wipe down with a disinfecting wipe since they are plastic. First, the good. My 3yo daughter loved this car seat! She is excited by all the cup holders and cubby spots she can put things in. She thanks me everyday for her &ldquo;new big girl seat&rdquo;! It was also easy to get her in and out of the seat and didn&rsquo;t take up too much room in my GMC Yukon. I also like how easily the seat covers comes off for cleaning! No need to take everything apart! Second, the not so good. The belts for the LATCH sit under below the seat. You get to them by lifting up by keeping the car seat upright and raising the part where the child sits. However, the panel just kind of sits there, it doesn&rsquo;t lock in, it&rsquo;s just flimsily there. I don&rsquo;t like the idea of my child&rsquo;s seat just loose like that. My daughter is over the weight limit for the LATCH system so I used the seatbelt to strap in the seat. The belt runs over that flimsy panel, but just doesn&rsquo;t seem to sit right. We tried everything and just never could get it tight enough for my peace of mind. It moved a lot. When she sits in it, her weight does stop it from sliding as much, but it never did feel as secure as my Britax Clicktight. For now, I am switching back to my Clicktight, because I need to be more secure about her safety and security in the seat. Soon she will be old enough to use a booster and I will try this seat again as a nonharness booster. Maybe I will like it then, but for now, I do not recommend this seat. We have three kids, ages 0, 3, and 6, and on our oldest, we've tried out a few different convertible harness boosters. We were impressed with the overall feel of this seat--very padded and soft, without sacrificing sturdiness, with a wide headrest that appears like it would provide great side-impact protection. Installation was easy enough--a little bit of wrangling required, but that's normal. Like most Britax manuals, the manual for this seat was easy to understand and it has useful step-by-step visuals. The one-handed headrest adjuster--this one has nine positions--adjusts smoothly, no problems there. The main feature of this seat is how you can &quot;hide&quot; the harness (when headrest has been adjusted up for an older/taller kid) behind the seat fabric when in booster mode. The harness still fits our 6-year-old (48&quot; tall), so I can't speak for the comfort of the seat in booster mode, but the idea is fantastic. Main issue I have with this seat is an aesthetic one. At the top of the seat by the headrest adjuster, the &quot;foam&quot; material beneath is exposed (see pic). I'm sure this doesn't affect performance, but I feel a bit more time could have been spent in the design room on this. Secondly, as an FYI for those needing to fit three seats across a back passenger bench, this seat is definitely too wide for three across--at least in our main vehicle, a Subaru Forester. However, we installed it along with only one other seat in my husband's car, so it works great for us as the alternative ride to school for my oldest son. Great thing is he won't need another seat--in booster mode, this will take him up to 63&quot; and 120 lbs.! My 3.5 year old absolutely loves this seat because it makes him feel more like his older siblings look when he's riding in it, but it's made to fit him and I don't have to sacrifice on safety ratings to give him the Captain's Seat of his dreams. It starts out at a minimum of 25lbs and 34 inches and he has plenty of room to grow into this seat. My 5.5 year old also comfortably fits in this seat as either a harness restraint system or a booster, those overlap for her height and weight but the design of this seat makes it so she's still comfortable riding safely in a harness. My 8 year old can also safely and comfortably use this seat in Booster mode. All three kids lauded the extra room, liked the built in double cup holders and loved the position of sitting up so that they could easily see what was around them without craning or leaning unsafely out of the seat. As a parent, I loved how quick and simple it was to not only adjust (one handed!), but also to install. The user guide was simple and clear to follow making it very easy to set up and test out. My favorite feature of the seat however, is the material and how easy it it to wipe down and clean. Within the first 10 minutes of the first trip out in it, we not only had muddy footprints on it, but one of the kids wiped yogurt on it as well. No big deal, a quick wipe with water and gentle cleanser spot cleaning did the trick to remove both dirt and yogurt, we let it air dry in the sun and you couldn't even tell there had been a mess! The only major draw back of this seat is that it only fit in one of our vehicles. As long as you only need space for one or two car seats or you have a third row in your SUV this car seat is a dream. If you're looking for a small footprint this is not the seat for you.
