If you do get your hands wet while handling the doll before you immerse her you will get some of her glitter on your hands. Once you immerse the doll the glitter comes off to reveal the pretty pattern on her tail, and her hair color streak. They are always a win with my girls ranging ages 10-4. The paint is a little sticky, but it&rsquo;s always fun to see the colored water! My only issue is that the fabric tail and lack of bending of the body makes it less desirable for me to let my daughter play with in the tub. She has a few Barbie mermaids that we can keep clean and avoid mold on. Comes with a few cute accessories. I gave it to my 5 year old little girl who was thrilled to get a Barbie mermaid. She immediately noticed that there were 6 surprises. Though 2 of them aren't physical and she was disappointed that there were only 3 accessories. The color reveal part worked very well. She was very happy with the bright colors on the mermaid she got. There were mixed reactions to the accessories. The brush and larger necklace were big wins. But she was sad that this mermaid got a headband instead of a crown like the previous color change mermaid series. The hair color change was nice but it wasn't a big deal to her. I've heard some rather imaginative mermaid play from her with her older sisters in tow. Everything comes individually packaged, 5 in total (the doll and 4 accessories), in a plastic tube. The instructions are easy to follow. Open the doll first, submerge in warm water that you&rsquo;ve filled the tube packaging with and watch the magic happen. Wait to open the accessory packages until after you have done the color reveal on the doll if you want her color to be a surprise. The accessories include a comb, necklace, headband, and a mermaid tail. According to the instructions, there is a feature where a strip of hair can color change based on the temperature of water. Ours didn&rsquo;t really work though, but my daughter didn&rsquo;t seem to mind. I think 4yrs+ is a great age group for this one, it still required moms (or dads)help. Which in this case, mom is not complaining because I also had fun. I like that it came with its own tube with a fill line that made things easy peasy. Quality is on par with other Barbie products, the accessories are super cute too. Watching the swirl as she transformed was super cool as it left behind the glittery water. The transforming hair color streak was a nice little touch as well. Overall 10/10, and prepare to be asked if you can keep the shiny water. My daughter likes that you can't find out until you tear them open, almost like each being wrapped like a present. She got the doll out and we found she needs to go back in the cylinder with water. My daughter is so excited, she pulls the mermaid out and yells &quot;she's beautiful.&quot; Now she has to clean her in the sink and we dump all the bluish water. We leave her to dry and open up the accessories. We attached them. The headband would not stay on or the necklace, so we tossed those aside. She added her tail and now has her mermaid complete. After submersing Barbie in her plastic tube filled with warm water, they wiggled and swirled her around and up and down until the transformation evolved. The temporary coating on the doll disappeared and there appeared a beautiful mermaid with long shimmering hair that color coordinated with her vibrant mermaid &ldquo;skin.&rdquo; Her soft fabric fin is removable and interchangeable with other mermaids in the collection. Her surprise accessories include a seashell comb, necklace and tiara headdress. Although there is no makeup change with water, her hair does have that special effect.
