So I think it's important other parents know the one major issue with this baby food maker. Pros Quick and easy Easy to clean (for the most part) Love the thick glass bowl Cons Replacement parts are expensive and not sold separately. If I want to replace one piece, I have to get it with other pieces. It almost feels like I'm better off buying a whole new one. The major flaw: plastic! Why is the center piece that holds the blades plastic?! If you do meat in the food maker, the orange plastic gets pretty gross after a while. And I clean it thoroughly after every blend. Plastic was just such a bad idea for steam and planned use of cooking and blending meat. I won't be able to use this again for baby #2. And you can't just replace the orange plastic piece. You have to buy the whole bowl. There are a lot of problems with it that can be attributed to simply poor design: 1. The blade: the shaft is plastic and already stained from blueberries, despite careful and daily cleaning. The blade itself has rust spots on it, though I clean to manufacturer recommendation. Food gets trapped under the blade and if I remove the blade to get to the food, it exposes the steel drive shaft, which can only be cleaned with a wet cloth, exposing the food to dangerous germs. I end up wasting about a quarter of the food trapped under the blade. 2. Blend function: this doesn&rsquo;t blend well, even if I run a blend cycle five times. I have taken to blending in a separately purchased blender from a different company to create the pur&eacute;es that are safe for my baby. Otherwise, it&rsquo;s too chunky. 3. Auto shut off for lack of water: this is not a set it and forget it machine. On several occasions, I&rsquo;ve turned on the machine, full to the brim with distilled water in the tank, only to return from putting my son to sleep to find the machine turned off sometime mid-cycle for what it perceived as a lack of water. However, there was still plenty of water in the tank. 4. Cleaning: this machine is a nightmare to clean. Food gets trapped under the blade gaskets and I have to take it apart with a screwdriver to clean it in order to safely make my son&rsquo;s food. Water gets trapped between the glass and the plastic plate in the bottom, creating the perfect environment for mould. 5. Drive shaft: the shaft is exposed to the food when taking off the machine&rsquo;s lid, exposing it to germs. There&rsquo;s no way to properly clean it. When i take out the shaft to clean the machine, a trickle of scalding water spills out onto my hand. The gaskets on the shaft are wholly inadequate; I find it coated in salmon or pears every day and do my best to clean it but you&rsquo;re not supposed to immerse it in water, so it&rsquo;s never enough. The one positive is the ability to steam in a self-contained unit. Then they made me cut the cord on my original product at home and send them pictures of the porch being next to it but visibly cut. Which I thought was absolutely ridiculous. I went along with it and said as they ask in order to get my product covered by warranty and receive a new one. I haven&rsquo;t use that sense. In 2019 I gave birth to baby girl and I have recently taken out my baby Brezza. I have used it once and the product broke again. Unfortunately this time it is no longer covered by warranty. I would not recommend this product to anybody else. I would recommend you go with any other brand. Or figure out a way other than baby Brezza to make food for your little kiddo. First, the plastic pieces inside started cracking off and breaking. Then, it started leaking all over- not only making a huge mess staining my counters (hello beet juice) but also getting into the bottom compartments of the machine. There are many crevices that water enters and cannot escape, creating MOLD! My husband unscrewed the pieces and it&rsquo;s was MOLDY inside!m the top and main compartment of the glass canister! Now, the machine will no longer steam. As soon as I snap it in it starts blending!!! I&rsquo;ve reached out to customer service, and because I don&rsquo;t have a receipt they say they can&rsquo;t know if it is beyond the one year warranty. The pur&eacute;e function needs to be held down manually and only runs for 30 secs which doesn't do the job. Even after pressing the pur&eacute;e function what's seems about 10-15 times. The texture is still not right for stage 1 foods. I've had to use a sieve to strain out the bits or transfer it to a food processor. Or the opposite has happened, the gathered up steam cause the texture to be too runny.
