Is it the best quality? No, but it does the job. I appreciate the painted on swimsuit so we don't lose it in a pool (few Ken trunk scares) but it does scratch eventually. Even after just 2 swims, some paint is scratched on her bust. But, for the price, you can't beat this. Many dive/water toys are similar in price or even more exspensive, but these are doll sized and Barbie brand. We may need to condition some hair sometime but for the most part these are holding up with the water play. If you are picky about hair too, these are probably the messiest Barbie hair cuts I have come across. My friend even assumed my daugther had taken scissors to her because of how uneven her hair is. Still, for the price, Barbie is so much better than generic brand dolls and I am not worried if some paint is scratched. It's a one piece that isn't too revealing. As young as my daughter is, I wouldn't want anything too drastic / revealing at this stage for her. Any parent can relate with that. She played with it for hours while setting up scenes with her other Barbie dolls. The only problem is she want's more Barbie and Ken beach dolls to fill out her new Barbie Beach house.
