It is such high quality I am proud to give it to my kids to play. It is helpful for younger kids from a very early age. You can use it to teach colors, shapes, and counting. Then as they get older they can use it for simple math. The colors are bright and vibrant. The fruit shapes are well designed and you can clearly tell what each shape is. This isn't your ordinary boring cheaply made abacus this is one you could use for years. My kid can be a little rough so I was worried but it is very sturdy and has held up without a problem. This abacus is well made and very high quality. It has Simple, sturdy design, bright colors and smooth action. My 2 years old loves moving the pieces back and forth and counting them with mom and dad. As he grows he will be able to identify fruits and colors to count as well as count independently! Very functional and excellent learning tool for colors, counting and fruit ID. Its very creative and interesting way for kids to understand basics of number game! Very sturdy and durable. Perfect to give as a gift. My 18 month will have this toy for a long time and loves to play with it now too. The shapes and addition of the fruits give more teaching options than a regular abacus. The only complaint I have is simply that the colors are a little off. This is probably apparent in the picture, but for example the blueberries are a bright superman blue, rather than a dark blue, and the strawberries are a magenta and bright pink, rather than being red.
