My 7 year old loved the characters and personalities of the Sockies. The Odd Pair was especially adorable and sends a wonderful message about uniqueness. My children loved reading the book that came along with the socks, and the messages and story behind each sock and their characteristic really empowered my children to pretend they were themselves superheroes with wonderful qualities. My 4 year old son loved hearing the different stories of Coco the brave, Sockie the calm and Todd the odd and proud. It was encouraging for him to hear the stories of how the socks overcome their hurdles and got their capes and that the same courage is their for him when he wears each sock. I loved the nonslip detail on the sole of the feet to help grip he floors when he is running around. The extra conversation card helps with prompting thoughtful questions to ask my son, which in turn makes the stories and socks more powerful. As there are only three sock pairs with capes these socks will be reserved for the extra challenging occasions when my son may need the extra encouragement to be brave, calm or proud of himself. They connected to the characters n the stories and the characters' feelings but, unlike many others books we have about emotional intelligence, found the books fun and entertaining. We appreciate that the socks are unisex; they are generously sized/stretchy and even fit me (which we discovered as my child insisted that I put them on), and I wear a women's size 10 shoe. The only reason that I did not give this product 5 stars is that my child, who is a beginner reader, found the type face/font a bit hard to read by themself. They also loved the capes and faces on them. Stories are interesting and my kids read them at least once a day. Shortly after trying this product, she had to visit the dentist for a check-up and insisted on wearing the &quot;brave&quot; socks. Although she loves the capes, she complained that they were scratchy on her ankles after wearing them for an entire day.
