We put a piece of packing tape covering the holes the sound comes out which helped dampen it a bit. This toy's speech is also a bit unclear. My son honestly doesn't like the toy. It keeps taunting you to try to get you to engage. He is 25 months and will say "no" and turn it off. I think it looks cute but it just didn't work for us. The packaging is at least easy to get off!</span>
