Definitely the right call. His eyes lit up like a Christmas tree and I think I may now hold the title of best mom ever? He played with this with the help of his cousin to transform it- there are quite a few little steps and I won’t say it’s for a younger child because it does require patience and attention to detail but it is a great size - actually a little bigger than I expected from seeing it online which made it am impressive toy. I was worried if it was in too small of a box it would not be a big enough gift in this eyes but it under promised and over delivered. I would definitely get more of these in the future!</span>

It has a lot of detail and moving parts, but it's big enough to feel very solid, like it'll last many years. Transforming it takes several steps, but isn't too complicated for my five year olds. I definitely recommend it, and will probably end up getting some of the others to go along with Optimus!</span>

The fact that it transforms made it extra awesome. The only problem is the power core on his stomach keeps popping open even in truck mode. It makes it hard to drive the truck around. There are several steps (probably 10 or so) but it is super fun to have all these ways to convert and "transform" to another toy. I grew up with my brothers playing these when we were kids and the this is a timeless toy that is enjoyed by boys and girls. The unique feature of this transformer is that the last step of converting will automatically activate the matrix mega shot action attack move which gets the kids very excited.</span>

After playing for a minute, we noticed that the Matrix Mega Shot would not lock back into place after being set off the first time. We tried for about 5 minutes and never were able to get it to lock into position so the chest and front of the truck will not close now. If this worked properly it would've had 5 stars. I received this product free in exchange for my honest opinion.</span>
