It has different guards and different attachments. It's part of a bigger set which interact with each other. They make sounds as you fight with another saber or as you swoosh them through the air. Mine came with a &quot;Crystal&quot; which is pretty cool because that is true to the light sabers. The light saber also lights up blue. The lighting and sound effects make for a full lightsaber experience. The set comes with 8 parts which are designed to be used together, but they can also be added or removed to create a variety of play options. According to my 10 year-old grandson, the most exciting feature is that there is an entire Lightsaber Forge collection in which all pieces are compatible , offering more possibilities for creative play. This is one of the major components of the original set of movies. After it was assembled it was a great toy to play with, assembly wasn't our favorite thing to do. It seemed a little cumbersome for a toy. If this was a full on replica lightsaber then the assembly would be fine.
