He loved using the hammer on the work bench (wish it came with more than one &quot;nail.&quot;) but the screws don't really work since they just fall through the holes. I'm not really sure how each of the pieces are intended to be used with the work bench and truck but he had fun connecting each of the paw patrol car pieces. It is wooden, like most Melissa and Doug products, and very well made. Super high quality pieces were used to construct and it really does make a huge difference. My young twins had no issues using the character shaped tools to screw different scenes on to the bus. They loved bring able to change the scenes and make something new. She loves using the different tools to build the various scenarios. And she also tries to ride it (it's a bit small for that, but she has fun). He wasn't very interested in playing with the pieces and building. My 7 year old did enjoy building but that was short lived. The toy hasn't been played with much. I think this is a better toy for a 2-4 year old age range. It can be a bus and a construction bench. This allows for free play as well as constructive play. The construction bench is great for fine motor skills when using the tools to screw the screws, hammer the nail, and work with the wrench. This toy uses different colors that match the characters' colors which is great for cognitive abilities such as matching and recognition. This mission cruiser allows for critical thinking to figure out which pieces go where and how they fit together using the activity cards for reference. This is an awesome learning resource for elementary school age children but my two and four year olds were both able to use/play with ease. They have played with it for hours and it never seems to lose either of their attention. It's made of wood and very sturdy for little hands.
