They are colorful and fun to sort and stack and our 5 yr old loves to demolition the town after his sister builds it. For cardboard it's made well and lots of fun. It kept them busy for hours and they even played together (which is rare!) I think they appreciated the toy more since they had to help me build the blocks! Personally these blocks taught them teamwork and stacking hand skills! We even played grouping the colors together and counting the blocks! With my older son, I was able to ask him more age appropriate math problems and comparing sizes and shapes of each group! He was learning but having fun at the same time! We would totally recommend this toy! The only complaint we would have about this toy is the storage! It is bulky and takes up a lot of room in the play area! They just stacked them as high as they could and pushed it into the corner of the wall! The blocks are bright and sturdy and a blast to play with, they take up a good amount of space but there are some storage solutions out there to make them fit in a smallish area when your child is done playing with them. My main gripe is that it is labor intensive to put all the blocks together, I suggest enlisting spouses and older children so the assembly goes faster.
