It works perfectly. It plays a snippet of music when strummed, and then pauses until strummed again. If you really want to break the illusion, you can just hold one of the strings taut and the music will play continuously, with cheering as encouragement every so often because it thinks the kid is strumming the whole time. I got both the guitar and drums. However I got the guitar home to discover it does not work and the drums work poorly. A huge disappointment and frustrating experience. I would not recommend. I wish I had checked reviews before purchasing. I just saw these in the store and thought it sounded like something my kids would enjoy. My kids have been showing my interest in learning to play guitar like I do and drums like their Dad. Lots of static noise and cannot use the feature which was why we bought this toy.
