We just wished that this deluxe version would also produce some light. Nevertheless, countless battles are being fought, lost and won. A lot of fun and an excellent imagination kickstarting toy! You can use the setting which you have to press the button. It has two settings. One that just lets the sword make swishing and metal hitting metal sounds. The other setting has the same sounds when you move the sword around. In addition, it also activates a button that makes monster sounds when you press it. So, you feel like you are fighting a zombie. It is a good looking sword. I think that we will end up hanging it on my son's wall to also be a decoration. It might be a bit big or weirdly sized for smaller kids but they enjoy it. It's cool that it makes sounds and lights up but honestly I think the kids would like it just as much without those things. My 6 year old loves sword fighting and uses anything he can, from a wrapping paper roll to a small rolled up rug. I have had 2 in my house over the last 8 years or so, and both have had a similar sword. This sword is a lot better than the previous one we had. My son loves the added sound effects. It really adds to the imaginative play. It's solidly made, and will stand up to the rough play most will have to endure. It is a little heavy for smaller children. The sounds are fun, but I can't figure out how to make lights work. That doesn't seem to bother my son. Since they love playing the video game, I was hoping this toy would bring them off screen into imaginary play, and I wasn&rsquo;t disappointed. As a result of playing the game, they were able to both use the sword&rsquo;s sound effects to actively pretend to play the game. Personally, I would have preferred a greater variety of sounds, but they didn&rsquo;t seem to mind at all. The soft edges of the sword are a plus for play in the house to not only avoid hurting someone else, but to avoid accidentally scratching walls and furniture. What would have made this even better is if it had come in a 2-pack in order to adequately take pretend play to its fullest and to avoid arguments over whose turn it is.
