It fits on the wooden track we had from an old Thomas Train set. Not sure how durable this would be, but a small child when I have a lot of fun with this set. It was a pain to insert the batteries and really wished they made it easier to insert them. My son really enjoyed that the cargo was detachable and that in itself kept him busy for a while. The product is perfect size, no assembly needed however it does have to be opened to insert the batteries. It did not include a screw driver so I had to use one from home. It was not easy to open the train to insert batteries. I have not been successful I've tried five different screw drivers. Will continue to try.</span>
