They had it put together in less than 10 minutes. My only complaint is that it was too easy for the 8 year old so once he put it together, he was done. We completed this as a family. My husband got confused with the instructions. My 8 year old daughter stayed interested. We were all excited to to see the outcome. We had a few missing pieces and a few we didn't need but we managed to get it mostly completed. He loves the Masters of the Universe and he enjoyed building the battle cat. This product is for a little older child than 6, He loves the construx products and loves to build them with help. This one he loved so much he wanted to play with and it will pull apart. the good thing is they are easy to put back together. It is worth getting and the time spent together building and creating was delightful. instructions were easy to follow with good visuals to help in the build. Do I even need to say more? My kids have no idea who He-man is, so I chose this mostly for nostalgia reasons since I grew up watching it. Despite them never seeing the show, they still really loved this battle cat kit. The instructions are easy to follow, and it came together nicely. Even my husband tried to put it together and he gave up because it was taking FOREVER. I personally would not recommend this toy for kids at all. He enjoyed it and needed little assistance. He liked that some pieces were printed and he didn't need to add stickers. The quality is comparable to major brand building blocks.
