And it went quite well! There are 111 pieces in the set split into two bags, one of which contains three smaller bags. We opened all of the bags and sorted the pieces by size and shape before beginning assembly to try to make the process as smooth as possible. Most of the parts are standard shapes (rectangles and squares of various depths) but there are several custom pieces with curves and angles needed to give the car its unique shape. Plus there is a driver figure, which is a nice inclusion. When my son was younger and we tackled construction sets, his job was to locate the pieces needed for each step and I would click them into place. But he is nearly 9 now, so we tried reversing jobs and it went pretty well. This was largely in part to the excellent illustrations in the instructions that used arrows and color-coding to show where each piece goes. There were a few steps that gave us pause when it wasn&rsquo;t clear how a particular piece should be rotated, but looking at subsequent steps cleared up any confusion. With one or two exceptions, my son was able to put each piece in the correct spot and he finished building the car in roughly one hour. The result was a sharp-looking version of the Twin Mill vehicle my son has in his car collection. Be aware that although you are building a car under the Hot Wheels brand, it is significantly larger than the classic toys at roughly 5 inches long and two inches wide. At that size, it cannot be used with any standard track or accessories you might have. But the wheels do turn smoothly so he can send the car zipping along the floor. The vehicle roof can be easily removed to put the driver behind the wheel for the next race. Or to remove him for the photo op at the finish line. But when you are done, don&rsquo;t throw away the box. The top has four perforated tabs that can be punched in that correspond to the vehicle&rsquo;s tires, allowing you to set the car on the box for display. In addition, the end flaps can be folded and locked to create a makeshift ramp. Finally, there is an app available where you can find build instructions and access an online community to learn how others have customized their vehicles by crossing sets and adding blocks. At this point, my son has not shown much interest in it, however, as he likes the end result and doesn&rsquo;t want to disassemble it. He couldn't build it on his own thus I helped him. Some parts were small even for an adult to manipulate esp the square ones. and if you make a mistake in assembling, it isn't easy to remove esp the flatter/ thinner parts. Once assembled, though, the silver parts stood out against the metallic blues. Pretty, for sure, and is more appreciated by a grown up. There is fun in both building the car as well as racing it. Love the added mini figure. The Twinduction is a classic car and love the overall color scheme.
