The characters can go on either truck. Both vehicles are quality made and feel like they can take some abuse from the kids. The Color schemes are excellent and well thought out. It comes with 251 pieces. You get to make 2 cars and the cool thing is that you can swap the tires between them! It also comes with 2 racers to drive the Hot Wheels. The packaging is really great as well as it shows you exactly where to open it to easily get the parts out without any issues. Inside there are 4 labeled bags inside along with directions for each Hot Wheels vehicle. There is 1 bag needed to build Rodger Doger and 3 for Hot Wheels Racing. They are fairly simple to build and put together. These are really more of something I would put up for display versus to play with. He is 5, so i had to help him build it but the book was very easy to follow. Once it was built, he was so excited to be able to switch cars. It was a nice little bonus that we could turn the box into a ramp to use the cars on.
