The middle of the giraffe shakes like a rattle and he will shake it all day long. The pieces all fit together so nicely and can be interchanged between all of them. She is 9 months old and still a little young to piece the blocks together herself. She especially loved the blocks that made sounds! She okayed with them for about 20 minutes and then crawled away but she did return to them without any prompting from us adults. She continued to play with them daily as they were presented to her. They were fun for our 12 month old to play and shake and build with. The animals are easy to built and take apart. The sounds the two shakers add so much entertainment for them. My one year old and three year old love to play with the animals and make animal sounds. The blocks are easy for him to grab, big enough to be able to safely play, and fun to bang on the ground. He definitely loves to put the lion spinning rattle head in his mouth for teething. He absolutely loves the body of the giraff because of the rattling sound it makes. He loves to crawl around with his little leaf in his hand or the elephant ears. The vibrant colors are very eye catching and are able to draw his attention in. They have become a family favorite in my household, even my 5 year old loves to play with them. Easy to put together, fun to recreate different animals, and perfect for make believe. They are a must have beginner Mega Block set! They always tried to take my older sons blocks, which were too small for them, but now they have blocks for that are built for their chubby little hands!
