It has a soft material on each side that is a cushion in case it hits someone. My boys are rough so any toy with a cushion or is soft is fine with me. Between the kids and myself we are all having fun playing with Molnir. I honestly think I play with it more than the kids, hence why my wife calls me a big kid.
