Yes you pull these back... but when you do pull these back, they fly forward... Fast! Really fast. And far! Extremely far! These go so far, it's almost unbelievable. I've never seen any other toy cars that even come close to the distance that these go. My son loves these cars, plays with them all the time, whether it's on kitchen tile or backyard . Takes them with him everywhere he goes. I'll be looking to see if Little Tikes makes these in other colors or vehicles.</span>
