Imagine her surprise when she opened it to a ball of fur that did not look like anything. After reading the instructions, all she could talk about the rest of the day was a bath. When she finally got in the tub and her pet came alive, you could here her excitement. She loves that it is a mermaid and a pet. Overall, the pet is very soft and it dried pretty quickly after the bath. It really teaches kids the value of something. My daughter is obsessed with mermaids and has always wanted a little luv so this was the perfect combination. Opening is very fun. You see this little ball of fluff. She got to take the time, do a deep scrub and reveal her magical creature. The the 4 star is because even after scrubbing, fluffing and combing (dads attempt too) the hair stays very matted. None the less my daughter loves dazzle the mermaid. My daughter (she is 5) had so much fun opening her little mermaid and surprises. She really loved revealing her mermaid was the puppy that she really wanted. She had so much fun giving it a bath, drying her off, and getting her looking nice. It was easy enough for her to do all on her own and that made her feel like a big girl. I loved that it came with an adoption paper for her to fill out. That was a very cute extra touch. The Mermaid is top quality and very durable. Even after following the directions as stated, it did not turn out the way it was supposed too. Even with warm water I still had to pull it apart. I also followed the directions on making the hair fluff out and that didn&rsquo;t work either. The entire process of unboxing, bathing, grooming, and discovering which pet she adopted was fun and engaging! My daughter oohhed and ahhhed at the cuteness the whole way through! Her pet is very soft, cuddly, and high quality. We both loved the adoption certificate that was included! It came in a cute pink hard shell and she liked that she could dip it in water and scrub it just like a tub toy.
