The build of the T-Rex fossil was a fun challenge for our 8-year old, who's been playing with Lego for years but hadn't built a set all by himself with zero help until this one. The fossil itself is fun to take off its stand and play with, not just a stagnant thing that sits there. Something different from the usual Lego dinosaurs, which are one or two-piece bodies you just click the limbs onto. The little science presentation build was a good warmup for the kid. Minifigs are great, kid thought it was neat that they're mixing Camp Cretaceous characters in with the movie characters. As well there is the small Dino with two figures. This seems to be the way lego is heading though in the current climate, lower piece counts to keep the prices from rising. That said, the set is beautiful. I kept the fossil built and on display. Normally I prefer MOC building to keeping show sets but this one is just awesome on display. In the current lego climate it is a worthwhile set for someone who intends to display it.
