It could have been half that if you're into plowing straight through as fast as you can. As with the Ayrton Senna marlboro car, it's not incredibly parts dense. It is, however, an very nice display piece. Fairly accurate to the real thing, especially the exterior, and the colors really pop. As far as play, I don't do that but it could be played with being a pretty sturdy build. Really, the only niggle with it is the price. These are priced at least $20 too high due to density of parts. The engine area is only a suggestion of what it looked like and there is no transmission of any kind. Overall, while being priced a bit high with a short to medium build time, it was a joy to build and now display. This is a great set, very fun and interesting build, it's not as complex as the Technik ranges and is larger then i initially thought, am used to the smaller speed champ ranges, I think it's a great set for fans of F1 and makes a fantastic display piece, which could be a pretty cool gift for a parent or friend who doesn't necessarily buy lego but are fans of F1. On a rainy weekend we decided to attempt the Formula One car. We all worked as a team to construct it and enjoyed every second. Lego have changed all packaging to paper and card which I was hugely impressed by. The kids loved the instruction book with infornation on Nigel Mansell - fantastic for them to understand the story behind the car. The instructions were clear and simple so that anyone could understand them. The only problem is that im desperate for the kids to hurry home from school so that we can continue building our car!!! Another big win from a fantastic brand, well done Lego. Thoughtly designed as a replica to the original. The big decision is what shall we build next....
