<span itemprop="description">I got this set for myself because it reminded me of a trip to the Botanical Gardens in Richmond, VA that my daughter shared with me for my birthday. Lego was having a displays through out the garden which was fascinating. This kit seems to be a replica of the butterfly garden there. It was fun to put together, very detailed and I loved the explanation of the plants and butterflies in the book. All in all a favorite.</span>

<span itemprop="description">My work has a butterfly conservatory so I was interested but once I bought and built it, the level of detail in this set blew me away. It easily tricks you into thinking it's a display piece rather than a play set. It is filled with gorgeous architecture and plants - all based on real species (as you finish each plant, the booklet tells you a little bit about it). I love the small details that comes from the research the team did, such as the blue morpho butterfly snacking on an orange and some watermelon.
I have it set up at work and my coworkers enjoy finding new details to love when they come by. It's beautiful at every angle and the open corner design gives you a great view of everything inside. I think the open play set design is only bothersome if you're adding it to a tabletop LEGO city (other comments mention how you can buy two sets to make it a closed building).
If you love plants, bugs, or architecture: Overall, you'll be happy with the amount of detail and quality for the LEGO price.
For those who buy it to play: the figures come with many props that lead to good jumping off points to interact with the set (watering can and shears for gardening, a book and pen for research or art, a camera for visiting, and a little picnic).</span>

<span itemprop="description">I suspect I am not alone as an AFOL in saying that the Friends theme was of zero interest to me. Then I saw this and thought it looked fabulous. Sadly, my initial enthusiasm was short lived when I discovered the back of the set was open - a bit like a Wild West film set. To be fair to Lego the set is aimed at kids who would want to pose the supplied figures within. So a quick search on Rebrickable revealed a full build - i.e. no open back - which required the purchase of two sets and 4 other parts. The instructions were simple to follow and I am really happy with the result. I’ve added the set to my moc park and it looks fantastic.
