My kid loved the texture of kinetic sand and the colors that came along in the package. But as for being able to create something, he needed guidance despite showing the product video on YouTube. Having tried a few combinations, it left him bored. So he left the tools and started playing with it as you would play dough leaving a mess along the way. My kid is 4 so he can clean up when instructed to but since the product is rated for 3+, Im not sure it will work for such younger kids. As for my kid, he still likes to jump around more so I will wait out a bit before reintroducing this. The sand was also harder then what I remember from Kinetic Sand. Don't know if it is because of this slice and surprise that they needed it that hard, but not as enjoyable as I thought it would have been. Also the instructions were very hard to read. It was like they tried to fit as much as possible on this card, but due to that used a really narrow font, and cheaper ink (as it was blurry). The only down size is that it is a bit messy but our rule is that it stays at the table only.
