He was able to transform the dinosaur pretty quickly and had fun teaming it up against other dinosaurs. My kiddo found it difficult to get the head and tail tucked in in just the right way where he could get the cover to shut in place again. If it wasn't stuffed on correctly, the moment he'd press on a head or tail it would start to open. Once we helped to get everything tucked away and secured, he could enjoy it. He had a great deal of difficult getting the Dino to stand without assistance. These are realistic looking without looking like too much like a baby toy which is much appreciated! Pretty neat feature, reminiscent of a vintage toy I had growing up. The dinosaur is made of solid quality plastic and seems durable. Should stand up to the rigors of play. The directions are trying to be clear, but there are a lot of steps and I think he was overwhelmed by it. I like toys he can figure out independently and I think he was discouraged after the first try. Once he did it a few times it was easy to remember how it works but it took him time and I think that's a downfall for a 6 year old. Also, the two dinosaurs don't really look different enough from each other that he is super enticed to transform. t often. However, it is well made and feels like it will last a long time. Being able to transform the dinosaur into a totally different one WITHOUT having to take it apart or remove pieces is amazing. The dinosaur has a unique texture to it- it is not the same pattern of bumps across the whole dinosaur. It seems like a more &ldquo;natural&rdquo; way for the Dino&rsquo;s skin to be. I give this toy a rating of 4 stars because it&rsquo;s a little hard to figure out which way to move the Dino to transform him. For that reason, my son found it fun to transform the toy back and forth a few times, but this Bumpy has not joined the ever-growing pack of realistic dinosaurs that my son plays with daily. The dinosaur morphs from one to the other by hiding its head/tail in doors on the back/belly and flipping extra claws out from the bottom of Bumpy's feet. Of the two dinos we received (also received the Indominous Rex), the Bumpy looks the best when fully transformed. My son (7) says that he does not like that you can see Bumpy's back on the Ceratosaurus' belly and that the Ceratosaurus has extra, backwards toes on his hind legs! That said, the toy is heavy-duty plastic and well made. The face is detailed, but the front legs are awkward when in the bipedal mode.
