As for "die-cast metal". I wonder if Hotwheels has ever heard of misleading advertising. 90% is made of very cheap, flimsy plastic. They are fine to put on a shelf or leave in the box for display, but they wont last long if played with. (In other words; kids will be disapointed!) Not near the quality you are paying for! I kept one of each in the box for display & put the rest on [...] and made a bundle. Sorry Hotwheels. Try again.
Date published: 2009-07-13

Rated 4 out of 5 by Rusty from USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D Glad to see a toy rendition of this ship on store shelves. Very happy with it, with the one exception being that more of the sculpted details could have been painted (lifeboats, windows, etc.). Can't complain too much for the price, though. One point--not sure about the previous review, but my Enterprise-D saucer does separate. It's held in place by 3 pegs which does leave 3 holes in the exposed battle bridge, but pretty cool nonetheless. I'd recommend it to anyone who's got fond memories of ST:TNG!
Date published: 2009-06-01

Rated 4 out of 5 by TrekkieA from Trek ships fly again! Having heard about these a while ago I couldn't wait to see them in person. When I finally found the Enterprise 1701-D at my local TRU, I was excited, and with could reason. The collectors will be happy with the level of detail put, the sculpt itself is probably better than the previous Johnny Lightning version, but the paint detailing is noticably lower. The JL version had a number different tones of gray, numerous painted on windows, escape pods and such made it very cool and colorful and had a seperating saucer section. This new Hot Wheel version has an amazing level of sculpted detail that the JL version had painted on like the windows. The ship fits nicely onto its stand with a small rubber piece inside a hole on the bottom, very similar to the JL version, but doesn't give as the same level of movement as the JL stand, but the sculpting on the the Hot Wheels stand is overall better looking with its sleek black with translucent blue and the "Trek delta" insignia painted in silver. Overall the Johnny Lightning ones are better toys, but the new Hot Wheels ones are clearly better collectors items with their eye for detail, the price though still seems a little high considering its marketed as a die-cast vehicle, I was expecting most of the ship to be die-cast, but only the engineering hull was, which left the engines and saucer to be plastic which leads me to believe that its more fragile than it looks...oh, and it doesn't seperate like the JL version; what's up with that? Enterprise-D toys almost always seperate, all the way back to the Galoob one in the late '80s. If you're looking for a great mid-size Star Trek ship for display purposes, these are the way to go.
Date published: 2009-05-05

y_2025, m_5, d_8, h_15

bvseo_bulk, prod_bvrr, vn_bulk_3.0.42

cp_1, bvpage1

co_hasreviews, tv_0, tr_5

loc_en_CA, sid_2E49BB2D, prod, sort_[SortEntry(order=SUBMISSION_TIME, direction=DESCENDING)]

clientName_toysrus-ca

bvseo_sdk, dw_cartridge, 18.2.0, p_sdk_3.2.0

CLOUD, getReviews, 4ms

reviews, product
