I saw the previous answer about the side rails, can you clarify, the rails are not attached to the headboard, so how it can cause issues with the support?

Hi Lians, The mattress support is composed of two pieces and they are joined in the center where the center leg is. The guard rail serves to add support to holding the pieces together, so to speak! Also, as mentioned earlier, the bed is tested to the US CPSC Toddler Bed standard as shown in the listing. We cannot verify the compliance if the side rails are not attached. Thank you for your interest!

Hi Tammy, We do not recommend using the Wilmington Toddler Bed without the side rails. They cannot be removed without compromising the strength of the assembly. They serve to support the headboard with relation to the bed itself. Additionally, it is tested to the US Toddler Bed standard with the side rails. We cannot confirm it's safety in any other configuration. Thank you! Lisa Haid
