He is just starting to really get into full train sets and watches all the Thomas shows so this was particularly exciting for him. All the trains are super well built and connect together in a fun way. He's been having them go on little adventures all over our play room since we got these. They are so fun looking and very light to push around. He love all the different colors and how fast they go when you push them. It's so nice to see a truly new and fresh take on a long loved toy! Seriously look at the picture i share, they are awesome! My boys, ages 4 and 6, were beyond excited to start playing with these and with so many to choose from they could both play right from the start! If you have or are looking to get a large train track set these work great with them! My boss have been having so much fun not only just using them as what they are but also interacting with the different characters! Which means double the play! Not only are they adorable but durable too! They have survived collisions and crashes off of the couch, kitchen table and beds without even the slightest mark! The trains are small enough to take along on trips too. They are easy to hook up and unhook and have nice design details to them. He was having a blast! He loves trains and anything with wheels! About 5 minutes in her became very upset because one of the pieces which has a crane like attachment would not turn easily. It would become unattached from the point it was attached to. It would have been nice is the 2 pieces were 1 that moved easily. Before that happened he was really enjoying the set! I would love to build his thomas and friends collection. So, selecting this collection was a no brainer in terms of if our 4 year old would be interested in them. I was excited to get some of the more updated figures from the &quot;All Engines Go&quot; collection as we did previously have mostly the older style. I includes some pictures comparing the two. In terms of durability that has remained consistent. My kid is ROUGH on his toys but we've yet to have any of our Thomas and Friends figures break, including those we've had since he was a bit under 2. I expect that durability will be reflected in these newer ones too as they feel just as solid. One thing I like about the Thomas and Friends trains is that they connect together fairly securely but not so much so he can't pull them apart to change configurations himself. He has other styles of trains that he likes for various reasons but Thomas has been our main go to due to the way they connect. He would often want to carry around several from one location to another without un-doing the train or it falling apart and this is the only style of train toys we have he can easily do that. They are also fairly easy for him to connect on his own. We did have to help him with that initially but he mastered doing it himself some time a bit after turning 3, I believe. I love that all of the Thomas trains we have can work with each other in terms of connecting to train cars from other Thomas collections, running on the same tracks, and so on. Definitely recommend Thomas and friends highly to anyone who has a kid interested in trains due to the durability, flexibility, and the way they can grow with the child as their style of play changes. My little just wanted to push them around on the floor himself initially when his train interest started, then he started wanting to push them on the tracks, and now he'll do a combo of playing with those he maneuvers himself such as these, and letting some of the battery powered run on the tracks at the same time. The trains are well built and durable. My 3 year old loves the colors on the trains. He enjoys using the crane on Carly the train to hook his other toys/trains/clothes onto. His second favorite is Darcy who he likes to say is digging &quot;mud holes&quot; into the ground. He does have a hard time linking the trains, so we usually end up doing that for him.
