It has lights and sounds. Easy to use, Buzz blasts off with a button push, then goes round and round with a lever. The space ship can detach so they can &quot;fly&quot; it around the house. It&rsquo;s interactive and definitely an attention getter/keeper. This Comman Center was so much fun to unbox with my kiddos!! They were oohing and ahhing while we were takinv it all out. The set is made extremely well and I know this is going to hold up well with 4 kids playing. The lights and sound are what I love to hear as they play. I really like how i teractive it us and how there is a removable spaceship that lets more than one child play. Such a fun experience for my kids to have! While they have few complaints, as a parent, its not the best toy. The rocket launch feature is hard to get into place and it feels like its going to break each time we get it ready to launch. My kids can't get the ship ready to launch without help. The circular flying of the ship is fun, but it frequently hits my kids in the face as they are playing-they just dont quite have the spatial awareness to stay out of its way as it comes around. Thankfully the ship has a soft plastic tip so no one gets hurt. The set comes with the Launch Base, Buzz Lightyear, the ship and the crystal fuel. The fuel is a little strange as an accessory as it doesnt do anything (and doesnt even really look like it does in the movie). Without a good amount of context, I wouldn't know what that piece of plastic was. The spacewalk lines are also a little awkward and not really easy to play with. The package of the toy shows all kinds of characters. Although it does list what is included, looking at the bok and then opening the toy is a little disappointing. It is certainly more fun to play with this set if you have extra characters. My kids love the launch and spin controls and enjoy the lights and sounds. They spend a lot of time playing with the ship disconnected from the base. You can leave the fuel center on base or even add it to fit ship. The rocket engines customize your ship. You can fly with or without them. You can keep pressing the lever to help him reach the hyper speed. Would definitely recommend! It is pretty easy to set up from the box. The directions are straight forward and the parts snap together smoothly. You do need to have a screwdriver to secure two screws and to access the battery compartment to add 3 AA batteries (not included with the set). Once assembled and batteries added, it is ready for play. The Buzz Lightyear figurine can sit in the cockpit while his hands grip controllers on either side of his seat, he can ride an elevator up from the ground level to the second floor, his feet can interact with a mechanism that sends a walkway from the second floor out to the XL-14, or he can clip in to do a spacewalk from the launch arm. The sounds help it to feel more like the ship is gearing up to launch and as a mom, I am so grateful that it was designed with the ability to turn the sound down, or off, when needed. The greatest feature of this set is definitely the launch and flying mechanisms. Pumping the lever controls the speed and the XL-14 stays securely on the arm as it glides around. The front end of the XL-14 is made of a softer, flexible material so that it will not cause any damage or injury if something/someone enters its path. Also, regardless of how vigorously the lever is pumped, the ship will not accelerate to dangerous speeds.
