The male is a little more clear, but it is really hard to hear and understand the female voice. The volume is just waaaay too low and even when you push the volume buttons, it doesn't go very loud. I love how this can be used for many, many years to come with our kids! My 4 year old loves using the talking pen to find and learn about the USA states/cities and different countries especially the states/cities and countries where different family members live. She was happy doing this for a while on her own! I also love how there are different modes like continents &amp; oceans, nature, countries, cities &amp; capitals and USA cities &amp; states. Also another neat feature is the measure it mode where it tells you the distance between two different cities! So cool! The actual globe is very durable and high quality. The instruction guide provides different ways to play so my kids will continue to use this for a long time. I think this is a must have product for every classroom and every home.
