It's magnetic so the pieces easily stick to the board. I would say it's more for a 4-5 year old since they pieces are a little small. It worked like a charm! My kids (6, 4, and 1) all played quietly together without interrupting me. They were fully engaged. Other kids saw the puzzle and came over to play also. Another parent commented that I had the mom thing down! Since presenting it to her she has not stop trying to figure it out. I love that the puzzle is magnetic and you really can't lose the pieces. We also love that when she finish playing with it, she can close it and take it any where, the car or the park. Compared to other puzzles that are made out of card stock, this puzzle here has the magnetic back and puzzles are sturdy and full of color. So easy to grab and go. No worries of losing the pieces, which is again convenient. Son loves Blues Clues so he was excited and wanted to play with it immediately. He has so much fun (with my help) finding the pieces and putting it all together. He's getting that it's easier to do the outside and work your way in lol.
