The string is very easy to pull for those little hands and the material is highly durable. The lights are also a major plus, keeping my 4 year old entertained for hours. We do play with this outside because the spinner does spin high! Toys disc-oh flyer because it reminded me of a toy I had as a child and the I knew my boys would love the lights on it. I received it yesterday and my first impression was it is adequate very well and will last the flying disc is ot flimsy and strod up to many falls on the concrete. The down side is that it is advertised for 5+ but my 5yr olds hands are too small to hold the hand piece and and the string is very very hard for him and my 7 yr old to pull. Neither one of them could get the disk airborne, it would spin on the hand piece or just pop off at the end of thier very slow hard pull.
