First impressions were very good - clear instructions as to how to assemble the figures as well as a collector's guide made easy work for the boys to get to ready for battle. After a couple of rounds, it became very apparent that one of the figures (Thunderpants) would lose every time, nearly getting decapitated and splitting in half after just one or two strikes. This soon led to one despondent child not wanting to battle any more. We rechecked the instructions and noted that each figure seems to have varied strengths and weaknesses as well as a collectors hierarchy (classic, epic, ultra rare, legendary, and powerstrikers) Thunderpants was a classic whilst his enemy was a legendary. Uncertain if this automatically gives Thunderpants a disadvantage but seeing the poor fella crumple each time made this questionable. We saved the day by applying a very small piece of electrical tape to Thunderpants torso area (which would keep splitting in half), resutling in his head sitting more snugly and secure. Battle then commenced - Thudnerpants stood up to the challenge and ended up winning the next round (phew!!) The boys continued to play further rounds and the whole battle seemed much fairer, challenging and exciting. Both boys have asked for more figures in the future. My overall impression is pretty favourable.... there is a ton of Akedo merchandise out there to suit all pockets. The boys are looking forward to collecting more and displaying them in their bedrooms or carrying a few around with them in their pockets for an 'on the spot' challenge! I was initially disappointed that Thunderpants needed a bit of tweaking to make him work as he should - he seemed far too sensitive to stand up to the slightest of taps. However, once patched up, the boys had a really fun time (and at the time of writing, still are!) And of course I was right! The boys were excited to see which figure they had - browsing the checklist on the collectors poster to see which character they had and whether it was a rare character. They established they had Bun Burner from the fire element and WickStick from the water element...and it didn't take long for them to become engrossed in battle! As we can see they had a lot of fun with this toy and WickStick came out on top - much to Bun Burners shock! I wasn't sure about these toys, but actually they are very versatile toys because they are compact making them perfect to take out to keep them entertained on the move, or when camping etc, however you can build a collection and play at home with the arena set in teams or winner stays on.
