I've been a Hot Wheels fan forever, and I especially love the different track sets. I grew up with the original Sizzlers and as usual, Mattel led the way with toy innovation, even back then. I love standard die cast Hot Wheels cars, but when you have more control over racing, I'm there! I loved the NFC cars - they had so much potential, and they should have evolved the app more, but now they're discontinued, like many sets before it. Another favorite was the 3 lane racing set that actually plugged into the way (no batteries), but that's long gone off the market. Now we have these 1/64 RC cars that are absolutely cool. They are fast as heck, and require some skill to make turns, and spinouts, but that's the beauty - mastering the control. They're easy to charge, and hold up very well to some non-intentional crashes. The BEST thing about these RC cars? They run not only freely on hard floors, but they can race around standard orange track, and even old sizzler wide track if you happen to have any still hanging around. One stick is for forward/back, and the other stick is for turning - plus, you have turning trim buttons for fine tuning. Hitting the boost before a loop is quite satisfying, but better slow down on those tight corners! I hope to see more cars coming in 2023/24? My kids love these! Right after homework, it's right to the RC cars and experimenting with different layouts. The cars come with an entrance (or exit) track so you can go off or on track at your command. Bravo Mattel - more more more! My 5 year old quickly got the hang of the remote and was zooming around and even the cat loved it. He was extra excited to learn he could build a track and race around the track. The car stays in the track well and moved on some of our car sets. It is really fast and can be used on regular Hot Wheels track or on the floor. The car is rechargeable via a small usb cable. The charge lasts well over 30 minutes. The remote control takes two AA batteries. My six year old loves to use the boost button on the remote to give the car extra speed. You can make the car do full 360s in addition to driving straight or turning. My children enjoyed driving the car under furniture around the house. They also enjoyed setting up jumps and loops on their hot wheels track and watching the car zip along. The car is made out of plastic, but has been very durable and looks super cool. They been playing (fighting over it) constantly since we got it. I wasn't sure how it would do, being so small but have hard floors and works great doing spins and tiny burnouts! It does great over tracks too and we haven't had any issues with it getting stuck, though we have not tried upside down loops yet. Two suggestions if you decide to get this, get two if you have more than one child, or want to play with it yourself! Also, don't let it get mixed in with other Hot Wheel cars, it is very similar to a regular car, will be searching for a tiny switch on the bottom of the car for awhile! Not only did this little zippy car get driven down our basement steps multiple times (by accident), but it came back with full speed and functionality. It takes a little coordination to get used to controlling it and goes best on hard surfaces, but my husband loves driving it just as much as my daughter. Only negative is the lack off an off button on the crontroller. Directions state to remove batteries for storage. All kids will enjoy this, even adults. It goes pretty fast for how tiny it is. It&rsquo;s able to go forward, backward, and make left and right turns. It also has a separate button which will make the car go faster. It takes some practice to learn how to maneuver it but it&rsquo;s also fun just to have out and mess around. The controller takes batteries and the car itself you have to charge with the cord it comes with. Our inside puppy actually got ahold of the car and chewed it up so we went out and purchased another because of how much fun it is. The car in the picture is one of the other options available. I actually plan on purchasing some for Christmas gifts as well!
