Feels as though they managed to get things just about working very flimsily and then just decided to call it a day there. Plenty of room for error, and then suddenly through no fault of your own you’re having to backtrack through several bags due to extremely vague instructions. Was trying to fix one such issue and one of the technic pieces snapped. What now? Wish I could go back in time and stop myself from buying it in all honesty.</span>

It only rests on top and can be lifted off. For the price of the set, it really should be attached in some fashion.

<span itemprop="description">So for starters, he is nice to look at, and the build is challenging yet fun. You definitely need to pay attention to what you're doing. However, he is a bit fragile, even after I was finished (kinda) I picked up R2 and set him down gently and all of the sudden a brick comes out from inside him and onto the floor. Like...seriously?? Then there's the missing pieces. Not only am I missing a physical piece, which I will have to put on later, but I was missing the sticker, which, come on, it can't be that hard to make sure the set has the display sticker can it? Good to look at, but not great for play.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I never built a Lego set before but always wanted the R2D2 Lego set. When I opened the box, I asked myself “what did I get into?” There were 13 numbered bags, so I decided to build 2 bags each day. I ran into two issues. When putting the legs onto the torso, some bricks fell out of the inside, so I had to reverse engineer everything to fix it. The other was when I was putting the head together, it kept falling apart. Aside from these two issues, everything was great. Should I have started with a 3,000 brick build? Probably not. However, I really enjoyed it and look forward to my next build.</span>

Mais j'ai moins apprécié la construction qui ressemble plus à du lego technique à l'intérieur et c'était une galère pour monter les différents panneaux qui composent R2D2. C'était également de l'assemblage de micro pièces et le mécanisme interne est difficile à comprendre sur le schéma de montage.
Donc je n'ai pas spécialement prit mon pied à la construction, c'est dommage. Je préfère des sets plus classics.</span>

<span itemprop="description">Two things in my life that started when I was 5 that I still love to this day. The 1st Star Wars movie was released in theaters and building Lego sets.
I cannot convey how much I enjoyed this build! This was the 5th set I’ve built since Feb 3rd and I loved every minute of it. Which isn’t always the case.
This set it very substantial once completed. It’s bigger than expected even knowing the completed dimensions. It’s pretty heavy once finished and I’ve had zero issues with anything falling off. And I’ve handled it a lot showing all of the functions and opening panels.
This set is a drastic improvement of the older Lego R2 set in my opinion. But having both never hurts ; ). I love the white, grey and blue which is true to R2-D2. There is some repetitive building of parts. But mirroring one side vs the other can play tricks on you after you’re hours in. But it’s enjoyable to me. I love the way they designed this build. There are what seems like endless single bricks used throughout this build. But not a single missing piece in my set. Actually quite the assortment of small squares and extra light bricks along with others were left over which I greatly appreciate.
I saw a review saying the panels on the sides fell off easily. Not really sure how that’s possible unless they missed the step that locks each side down on the inside of every panel. Speaking of the panels, I thoroughly enjoyed building each one. There are so many bright colors used on this build that aren’t visible once finished. But I love that I’m seeing that more and more on newer sets. I’m not one to leave 5 star reviews on every set I build. If there’s an issue with anything, I deduct stars accordingly. But this is truly a 5 star set in all areas. Must have for Star Wars builders.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I love LEGO and I'm a big Star Wars fan. This set was like the perfect combo of both worlds. The set looks gorgeous in my studio, however I don't think I will ever move it. It is very flimsy and the side panels are a pain to fix. I had to go back to bag 2 to readjust everything.
And no, I didn't make a mistake. The side panels "hang" with pins which are attached to small plates. They detach VERY easily from the large plates. Very painful to fix and they can easily get loose with minimum manipulation. I don't think this was the best design in terms of sturdiness. The play features are there to be used but I'm not taking the risk. It will stay in my shelf forever.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I was so excited to get this set for my wife. I knew she hadn't built anything this large but she loves Star Wars and R2-D2. Little did I know this would just create negative energy.
It was very challenging for her to build and some pieces were quite difficult to put together.
We only had 1 missing piece which was great, except it was the sticker, and Lego couldn't send me one.
I got the message, "The LEGO® bricks listed below were more popular than we expected."
My wife is very disappointed that it's finished but will never be complete.
This thing also can fall apart quite easily, I don't recommend this set for children.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I love the set overall. However, the side panels are very hard to get attached to the interior structure, causing some instability. Also, while trying to make sure they are secure, a number of pieces continue to come loose. I've chosen to leave the side panels "loose," and am going to leave a couple fallen pieces off. I don't want to take R2D2 apart and start over.</span>

The build was challenging at times but very enjoyable and I would recommend to any lego and/or Star Wars fans.</span>

<span itemprop="description">This build did frustrate me at times, but that's just because I struggled with the interior. I love the nameplate and the little details hidden inside R2D2! I should have taken a little more time when building this one instead of rushing though (therein lies my issues), but it was well worth it once it was completed!</span>

<span itemprop="description">Had a full day to spend doing something, so this was the build I chose. It took all day building it leisurely and it was great. Some newer building patterns I've not experienced which was cool. I thought the engineering for the telescoping leg was epic as well. Probably one of my favorite Star Wars builds I've done so far!</span>
