The build experience of the AT AT far exceeded the build of the Falcon. That being said, clearly the Falcon in iconic and makes an amazing display piece even in comparison to the impressive ATAT. No. Excellent? YES! The LEGO AT-AT model is an amazing piece of design. The way the Technic frame supports the overall build involves some techniques I have never seen before. I've learned a lot building this set. But it's not perfect. The build process itself involves several long repetitive sections that detract from the overall building experience. I have no doubt the final model will remain standing, but there are some parts not attached particularly well - sometimes only a single stud holds on a sub-assembly. Overall, you do need to handle the model with care. In the end, however, the large scale and incredible detail will win you over. You are likely not prepared for how BIG this model is - pictures don't seem to do it justice.
Date published: 2022-02-20

Rated 5 out of 5 by OfficerCaringFlower from Excellent Very nice build as well as being very accurate I own 4 other UCS sets and this one is by far the best.
Date published: 2022-02-20

Rated 5 out of 5 by ChairmanGoodStockings from Love the the AT-AT Quite the greatest AT-AT build ever produced. The scale, screen accuracy, and interior detail are all excellent. However, this is one of the most frustrating builds I've ever worked through, and incredibly fragile. As much time during the build is spent reattaching parts that drop off as actually building it, and this trend continues when it is actually "finished". Don't move it. Ever. To be on the safe side don't breath near it or something will take a spill. The UCS Falcon is robust enough to stand up to kids occasionally playing with it, but that is impossible with this set. I was just had no option but to move it and something fell off from the place at which you are meant to lift it. In reattaching that, the underside fell off for what felt like the thousandth time. In trying to reattach that I brushed the leg and something fell off of that. In trying to reattach that, something else fell of the leg which caused the ATAT to do a faceplant. It is now screen accurate to when Luke lobbed a grenade. It's now in a big plastic tub waiting to be stripped down and boxed up when I'm less annoyed. If you don't have the UCS Falcon, get that instead.
Date published: 2022-02-19

Rated 5 out of 5 by SuperClown059 from The pictures don't do it justice Here are some thoughts about the set. While I wouldn't call myself a hardcore Lego collector, I am a big Star Wars fan. The Empire Strikes Back is my favorite of the movies and the AT-AT / battle of Hoth is my favorite part of the film. When I saw this was available I knew I needed it on display at home despite the heavy price tag. I have no urge to purchase other large sets like the Star Destroyer or Millennium Falcon but this was a must have for me. Eventually decided to pull the trigger and brought it home. Took me several days to build... overall I would say 16 hours more or less. The build was very enjoyable and engaging with the packaging split into four boxes consisting of several numbered bags. Each bag took me around an hour. The instruction manuals even included how the LEGO engineers designed the set and facts about the walker. Looking at the final product was very satisfying and rewarding. The detail is incredible and towers above my other LEGO sets. Overall it does not take up much space as it is TALL rather than wide or long. The AT-AT is stable due to its large feet and sturdy legs, which must be posed by twisting the gears in the legs using a built device. The head can also be turned using a lever near the neck. Overall I would highly recommend this to advanced Lego builders rather than children, as is to be expected. Pros: -Enormous, without requiring too much space. -Incredibly detailed -Good amount of minifigures included -Very fun to build, was never confused or frustrated by instructions -Packaging incredibly well done -Sturdy, doesn't feel like it will topple over Cons: Expensive, expensive, expensive
Date published: 2022-02-17

Rated 5 out of 5 by RichestConsiderateApple from Great Lego set The scale of this set if amazing and will make the jaws drop of almost everyone who sees it in it's completed form. I have almost all the newer star wars collections, i have the millennium falcon UCS and star destroyer UCS and a handful of other builds and i have been building lego sets for 30 years! But this by far was the poorest executed set i have ever built. A lot of pieces were not secure and kept falling off. The legs were the worst design ever, i have the regular size AT-AT and i was able to bend the legs easily and it was stable. But due to the height of this build i wanted to bend all the legs so it can fit into my display case. I had to rotate the legs to about 85% of the way but they are so flimsy that the body kept toppling over it and causing a lot of pieces to break and fall apart. I couldnt find the perfect angle to have the legs bent enough that it will fit inside my display case and also having the AT-AT standing upwards (my display case is pretty big as it have about 10" of space left on top of the Star Destroyer UCS to the top of the case). I now have to leave the AT-AT on its side with all its side panels exposed because i am scared the weight of it would break off more pieces. Oh there are a bunch of connections under the body and between the legs that would fall just by you touching it lightly. I definitely would not recommend this product to anyone. Also this set does not justify the price, it just isnt worth it. I wish i could return this whole set back to lego for a refund or a store credit.
Date published: 2022-02-08

Rated 3 out of 5 by TazE from Too Fragile This was the set I was the most excited to build. The AT-AT is my favourite Star Wars vehicle and I was absolutely stoked to get one in UCS form. The pros: Aesthetically, this model looks fantastic. The accuracy of the model to the actual AT-AT is on point. The box-opening experience was also top-notch. The cons: This model is incredibly, incredibly fragile! A light touch can cause panels or pieces to come off, which made the build a frustrating experience. I can't pick mine up to move it without the underside panel falling off. It's attached by a few studs and it's frankly too heavy for it to stay on properly. The underside panel itself is also very flimsy. For example, the hatch (although a great detail!) is attached with 2 studs on one side and it falls off constantly when I try to reattach the panel to the main body. Additionally, I had the same issue with missing pieces as other reviewers. The problem was resolved by Lego fairly quickly, but it still delayed my build by over a week. This is the first Lego set I have purchased that has had missing pieces. I have very mixed feelings about this set and I want to love it more than I do. But when it's falling to pieces in my hands, it's hard to rave about it.
Date published: 2022-02-06

Rated 5 out of 5 by HealthyDuck015 from A must have for any Star Wars fan This is a well designed Lego set for the novice builder.
Date published: 2022-02-06

Rated 4 out of 5 by Timwraith from Good but….. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited to get this but immediately disappointed at the instruction books. What happened to the fantastic binder books? 4 poorly produced books doesn’t cut it for a UCS set. The build itself has been fun and interesting however it has a delicate feel to the model. When trying to attach panels etc you have to grab the other side to gain stability which usually meant the side you were holding had bits drop off. This was especially on the underside of the AT-AT. I also noticed that bag 13 image says you’re building the head when you aren’t actually doing that. Attached a photo. I do feel that the quality of the brick is also diminishing, they don’t seem to be able to create a strong bond as a few years back, clicking a piece together and another section would drop off. Whether this is a production issue I don’t know but seems to be more obvious on newer sets nowadays, lower quality recycled plastic?
Date published: 2022-02-04

Rated 5 out of 5 by Blakerayirl from A++++ Amazing Build Really interesting build. The attention to accuracy is excellent. The build takes a lot of time, but that’s part of the appeal. The tough part of the design was making the finished model sturdy overall, and the designers did an excellent job. Unfortunately, several non-structural elements like the side cannons fall off too easily. Additionally, Lego makes the Speed Champions sets smooth with tiles, and a set of this level should have fewer studs showing. Overall, though, an excellent set.
Date published: 2022-01-25

Rated 5 out of 5 by RedMaN from Bow to the King I have been waiting for this model for so long. I have like 70 Star wars sets. So here's a little story of how i proceed to build my Lego set. First i don't use the numbered bags for any set, small or big, i put the pieces all mixed up in different bowls and start from there. In my opinion I find the numbered bags to easy to build a model and I never lost a piece. So I started the AT-AT on December 29 and finished it January 16 (at about 2 to 3 hours a day (The UCS Millennium falcon took me about 3 months, so many little pieces.)) And on top of that I leave all the parts loose until all my building is done, when I'm finished building, I put all the pieces together. (see pictures). So about the AT-AT, a dream come true for me what a beautiful piece worth the money. It as some flaws but hey nothing's perfect. Just the size is really impressive. I bought two Hoth battlepacks to fill it up more. So yes would recommended it to any fans of Star wars. Thank you Lego!
Date published: 2022-01-19

Rated 5 out of 5 by LoveLegos6751 from Among the Best Lego Sets Ever Produced! This is a fantastic set and the best one I’ve seen in a long time from the Lego group. Only maybe the UCS Falcon rivals it in my opinion in terms of building experience and features. This things has so much going on and is well worth the money (ignore piece count!). Definitely my all time favorite. Yes it’s a little on the pricey side but that is no problem for me because it’s well detailed. I would have no problem purchasing another one. It is shown a lot of hard work went into designing this.
