For me, Lego and retro video games is a dream come true. I really love the Lego Mario line and mini-figure Sonic is wonderful. I was very excited by this set and I finally picked it up. The Sonic figure is fantastic and I love the play set itself - it looks authentically Sonic 1 and is a great display piece. The build is in segments so it can be rearranged (and maybe added to in future? Lego Ice Cap Zone maybe?) but I wouldn&rsquo;t call it a fun build. Durability is high: most of it is a solid build with little that could easily fall off (although the palm tree does keep coming apart). Playability is very low: it does have a working spring jump as a play feature but that&rsquo;s it. The Sonic mini-figure and mini-builds of the three bad guys are great (with some pose ability) but the actually set is more for display than kids play. Affordability is medium: depends how much you love Sonic. A single mini-fig (Tails and/or Knuckles would have been nice) is quite low for the price of this set but you do get two mini-builds of iconic villains - a crabmeat and a motobug - however I would have liked a buzz bomb and a chopper to complete the Green Hill set; I would argue to include a bridge but not a chopper is just wrong. Robotnik is an okay build; I like him more than other people do because his look is accurate to Sonic in my opinion. Displayability is very high: for any flaws there are it shines here because it looks great - it looks like a still image from Sonic 1 and that will always look good. Robitnik&rsquo;s ship looks great as well. I can not praise the displayability of this set enough. It is proudly on top of the mirror in the lounge and will stay there for a long time. It looks so good - especially for Sonic fans. Buildability is low: I would guess that half of the set is made up of 1x1 studs of 2 shades of brown. 1x1 studs are a pain to work with (literally for my big fingers) and a lot of this set felt like busy work, but the final outcome was worth it. There are also several stickers With some being prominent (so needing to put on well) and some needing to line up with bricks (which makes it super fiddly). Not one for kids and not particularly fun as Lego builds go. Overall: I love the set but only because I like the 90&rsquo;s video game scene and it comes with a Sonic mini-fig. The kids enjoyed playing with the characters when I was building it but I would be too worried of the mini builds getting pieces lost to let them play with it too much. Your mileage of this is more about how much you love Sonic than how much you love Lego.
