<span itemprop="name">VERY disappointing and misleading</span>
<span itemprop="description">I wouldn’t be so upset had Lego not deceptively marketed this product as being able to do something it could not. A lot of money spent and time invested to find that in contrast to the advertising:
1) The PIANO DOES NOT PLAY SOUND. Sound is played via your smartphone or tablet’s speakers when using the Lego app paired to the piano. No smartphone/tablet, no sound.
2) The KEYS DO NOT PLAY IN SYNC TO NOTES ON THE SHEET MUSIC. There is just the same random movement no matter which song you are playing. The KEYS DO NOT CORRESPOND TO THE NOTES.
3) When playing the piano, ANY KEY PRODUCES THE SAME NOTE SOUND REQUIRED IN THE SONG. A preloaded song appears for you to “play,” and as you hit any note on the piano, the song progresses. YOU DON’T REALLY PLAY A PIANO.
While it was neat to build, it was an absolute disappointment that it didn’t live up to the hype Lego made about it. Shame on you, Lego. Never have I ever felt deceived by you all like this. If you all had been upfront about how it really worked, I would not have purchased it. Too late now.</span>

<span itemprop="name">It’s a “grand” piano</span>
<span itemprop="description">Bravo to Danny Chen and the development team for this kit. It is a fun build (not hard at all, but still kept my interest) and the result looks really beautiful.
In my opinion the “playability” of the piano is well implemented given the real world constraints of doing so. To make it fully functional as a piano would have added significant costs and technical challenges that would not have been realistic to expect Lego to undertake, such as separate sensors for each key, custom electronics for the keyboard and would have likely made the overall kit very much larger in size. The critics on this point just do not appreciate these things and that the kit would have cost much much more. I don’t think that is what was intended anyway. After all, ultimately it is just a representation of a grand piano, not the real thing. If you want a real piano, then go out and buy one, not this kit.
The finished product is first class as a display piece. Making it play is a fun novelty that our family and friends will no doubt enjoy. The overall design is very impressive and well worth the cost and effort to build.</span>

Lovely details and building the keys didn’t seem as repetitive as originally predicted. Owning a Baby Grand we were able to see many similarities with details found inside.
Has anyone thought of a white limited edition model - possibly with a candelabra? The fans could call it the Liberace version!</span>

<span itemprop="name">Disappointed</span>
<span itemprop="description">I bought this set for my son's birthday thinking it was a playable piano since that's how it was marketed by Lego. Imagine our disappointment to find out this is NOT a playable piano at all! I didn't think Lego would engage in false advertising, but I guess I was wrong. My son was so excited to compose his own music for the piano to play, but after "playing" the couple of pre-programmed songs through his phone, he was done with this product. It's a beautiful piece once built but definitely not worth the money. Incredibly disappointed in Lego's marketing and customer service when I reached out to them with my feedback.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I loved every bit of this build. The keys yes get a little repetitive but to see everything come together was an absolute joy. It's a stunning piece of engineering and looks incredible. The playability and small details are really impressive and it's a must have for all Lego fans. I really like how modular it is, you can easily remove the key assembly and make adjustments. My kit did come with a faulty motor, it had almost zero torque and the keys moved extremely slow. I replaced it with a Control+ motor and it now works so much better. Overall it's an amazing bit of kit and a great addition to my collection.</span>

<span itemprop="description">The title says it all, this piece is for display, but maybe not in a house with a large cat!
This has been one of my most drawn out builds, not because of difficulty, and I’ve found that throughout most of the building process that the structure is rather fragile and the smallest bump or nudge sends pieces flying off!
As a result I’ve had to rebuild the majority of the structure many times making sure that all joins are tight. This is the first model that I have considered gluing to keep stable.
It’s a beautiful model, and an enjoyable build deserving of its own shelf.</span>

<span itemprop="name">All-Time Great LEGO Set</span>
<span itemprop="description">The Grand Piano is one of the all-time great LEGO sets. The attention to detail is amazing--from the smooth-rolling casters on the legs to the operation of the hammers inside the piano. The build itself has wonderful solutions to construction problems such as the attachment of the keyboard cover.
The Power Up app plays music beautifully on my iPad. It creates a wonderful illusion of the piano's actually playing when you select "Listen". The "Play" selection is also fun--the illusion is best with simple music like "Happy Birthday", because the keys play bits of each tune rather than individual notes.
The keys do NOT line up completely straight, but this is a nitpick. The keys go up and down in a fixed sequence that doesn't change from music piece to piece. However, the speed of the keys is faster or slower depending on the tempo.
The music selection is excellent. It ranges from "Fur Elise" to my favorite, "The Entertainer". It'd be great if LEGO would add some more music selections to the app.</span>

<span itemprop="name">Awesome set but app is disappointing</span>
<span itemprop="description">This is a spectacular set! Enjoyed every minute of the build and loved seeing it all come together. Fantastic use of Lego pieces to build a beautiful piano with realistic mechanism. Congratulations to Donny Chen for your brilliant design. I preferred some of the original details, incl the brass wheels and the pedals which looked better. The keys are not level on my set which does not reset as intended with the app. The powered up app is a good idea but the execution could be a lot better. It shows music for each piece it can play, but instead of the actual music, random notes are displayed and animated on the phone screen with no relation to the notes played. PLEASE update the app to fix this. An exceptional set like this deserves an app that educates and celebrates music, not just dumbs it down. Upgrade the app and it would definitely be 5 stars!!</span>

<span itemprop="description">Overall, the build experience was a good one. I don’t have many motorized lego products so I was uncertain with the mechanics. Tested the motor throughout build and it seemed to work fine. However, when it was all done and ready for prime time “listen” enjoyment, the keys worked for about 30 secs and then they stopped working. The keys still “play”. <span itemprop="name">Technically Excellent, But Buggy</span>
<span itemprop="description">As a lifelong pianist myself who works on player pianos for a living, this LEGO Grand Piano set is a dream come true. This set takes into account an exquisite and masterful use of detail to create a mechanically accurate toy piano, down to the hammers and dampers. The bonus is that it used the PoweredUp app to recreate music and even replicate a player piano experience. However, this is when things get buggy.
The key reset function DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. The reset feature overestimates the rotation after the rotating orange Technic piece detects the static gray Technic piece, and causes the keys to be reset into an uneven down position by default. LEGO, PLEASE fix this! This is rather annoying and ruins an otherwise perfect set.
The keys are not accurate, and the app only detects whether A key is pressed, not WHICH key is pressed. I personally don't mind this, since I didn't expect this to be the case, but I know others do.
Overall, I'm happy with the set, but LEGO really needs to fix the bugs in the app that's programming the motor to overshoot its rotation!</span>

<span itemprop="name">Great Product, Needs a Little Work</span>
<span itemprop="description">The piano itself is fantastic and works well. The instructions are good. It's worth buying and building whether or not you want to use the app's features. There's two things lego would benefit on improving, and to be aware of before buying:
1) The instruction booklet is so large that it can be difficult to read all of the instructions, especially the information near the binding, like which parts are needed for each step. They would really benefit from separating the instructions to 2-3 booklets, as they do for other large sets.
2) The three legs on the piano are flimsy and not designed well. Moving the piano at all, even gently, causes the legs to fall off under the weight of the heavy piano because there's so few connections keeping the legs on the piano. I had to glue the legs for them to stay on. If you don't feel comfortable using glue on legos, this may not be the product for you.</span>

<span itemprop="name">Great Product</span>
<span itemprop="description">Okay, first I need to address the thing that everyone is complaining about. Yes, it's true that this piano technically isn't playable, but I don't find that to be much of a problem. I really enjoyed building this set and "playing" music on it. I did have an issue with the motor. It wouldn't rotate, but I loosened it a little bit and everything was fine. But even after all the struggles, this set still amazes me. I love impressing my friends and family with the complex design of this set. It is so incredibly detailed, that even I (a person who doesn't play the piano) know that this was designed by an expert pianist. It has made a lovely decoration in my home and I dare say that this is my favorite LEGO set that I have built so far.</span>

<span itemprop="name">Best Ideas set so far! A+++</span>
<span itemprop="description">This is definitely the best LEGO Ideas set they’ve released since the beginning. It is amazingly detailed all the way to the working piano key. It is very sturdy and super easy to move around. It looks amazing on display. People have told me that they mistook it for a real piano when seen in a picture.
The biggest flaw is that the added sound effects are not well designed. Sometimes the keys won’t move when you use the Listen option. If you try to reset the keys, it may take a few tries before it works. What I also don’t like is that they keys make hardware noise when using the play option. And lastly, I constantly here a never ending beep when I use either option.
If I had to judge it solely on the design and building experience, I would give it an A+. Maybe the app team could work on an update which would fix the bugs. But overall, I really enjoyed building it. I highly recommend it for any LEGO fan.</span>

I have lego sets from the 80's from when I was a kid and now my children play with them. If you know what Lego is all about or payed attention to what you are buying you would not be disappointed. A Lego building doesn't produce sounds... doesn't have a speaker and even though the motor part is cool, it would be just as neat without it! It is a Lego set, not an instrument people! I bought it because it combines my two passions, piano and lego, I love how it feels, how it looks, and how it moves. although it is a baby grand, not a grand piano you can also see that in the pictures and ads. I also like the original model better, the one submitted to ideas, but I understand it would be more expensive and complex to make it that way.</span>

<span itemprop="description">Soon after finishing the Lambo Sian, I received my Piano. Wow! What a piece of art, engineering, details and the app to make it sound as if real, extreme! No missing parts, instructions were great and the inclusion of the power up parts, made the kit complete! Like always, I took my sweet old time placing together the detailed parts while remembering old memories of my father and I working together repairing piano accordions. He was a master accordionist, teacher, mentor of many that still today, earn their living with that profession. The accordion parts are basically identical as those on the piano, just arranged differently. The kit is so real life detailed! The moving parts seem to follow the music as if really playing. I had the same problem many people had spoken about that the piano keys do not reset to fully flat, but there are many good ideas on how to solve the issue, its a matter of trying. I was thinking of using white cotton gloves to assemble it in order to prevent fingerprints or finger oil to contaminate the beautiful black and white parts but I could not get them and now I don't know what to utilize to make them shiny again! Any thoughts? My wife loves Barbies and we set one sitting on the piano’s chair as if she was playing and it looks gorgeous! Both my brothers and wife were born in September and guess what their birthday song was and when it came from? The Grand Piano with Happy Birthday song from the app! I hope, well, I should expect that Lego keep updating the app with more songs and, perhaps, some future upgrades for the Piano. It is the center piece of my vast Lego collection, sitting in the middle of our living room for all our friends and family to enjoy. Magnificent piece of art! Thank you for the memories too. PS.: I tried to upload a 30 second video but couldn't, sorry.</span>

<span itemprop="name">Fantastic Set!!</span>
<span itemprop="description">After waiting two months for my backorder to arrive, it finally made it to my house a few days ago. Overall, it took me around 9 hours to complete, over the span of two days. And I have to say, this is definitely the best Lego set I have ever purchased. Lego could have easily just given us a set that looked liked a grand, but instead, we get something that not only looks good on the outside, but has a greatly complex inside to go along with it. The fact that you can build a working action to go along with the pushable keyboard really amazed me (wish the batteries came with it though). The price tag made me a little nervous, but having it in my hands now, I don’t regret a thing. I would highly, highly recommend this set.
Well done to the creator of the set, and way to go Lego for supporting it.</span>

<span itemprop="description">The Lego piano looks fantastic sitting on my ebony Yamaha Upright Grand. Very enjoyable build, slightly repetitive at times.
I had the same issue with the key reset as documented many times over already. Various solutions have already been proposed. Not sure how this design flaw got past Lego QA.
One final point, the Powered Up app initially worked flawlessly, but since upgrading my iPhone to iOS14 it will no longer connect to the Hub. I hope there is a new version of the app on the way!</span>

<span itemprop="name">Worth it</span>
<span itemprop="description">The piano set is a fantastic build. It's hefty but structurally very sound. During the build there were a few moments I thought it would fall apart, but these elements are reinforced significantly by technic pieces. My only complaint relates to the software wherein the red reset button doesn't work reliably. Other than that, it was a fun experience.</span>

<span itemprop="name">Amazing set</span>
<span itemprop="description">This Lego Ideas set is the best one they have ever designed.
The functionality of the Piano is great. It is the first Lego set displayed in my living room, next to my real piano, a Yamaha black parlor grand.
I took my time with the build, one bag a night.
You must be meticulous with the build to get everything positioned correctly for the key mechanism to work properly.
The attention to detail is near perfect. I would have liked the piano bench to open, as in real life, it is used to store music sheets. Otherwise perfect execution.
The Power Up items of the battery box, motor, and sensor had to be included as it would have been impossible to add them after you finished the set. it would have required a major disassembly to get them inside.
I have assembled many Lego sets over the years. This one gets an A+ rating. I hope more songs get added to the app in the future.</span>

<span itemprop="name">Very satisfying to build - shame about the legs</span>
<span itemprop="description">As soon as I saw this I wanted it, and got it as soon as it was released. I had to ration myself to one or two bags at a time to make it last.
The build was very enjoyable and the result looks stunning.
I don't agree with other posts that it is a swindle that you can't "actually" play it; I think it would be extraordinary to achieve that, and I didn't expect it.
I have just one quibble. Whenever I move it by pushing it on the castors, one or more of the legs regularly falls off. I've checked carefully, and I can't see that I have done anything wrong in attaching them, and I only move it slowly on a smooth, flat surface.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips for rectifying it?</span>

<span itemprop="name">All the right notes</span>
<span itemprop="description">This was overall a fun build. I have been having a bad run of luck lately with my last 5 builds missing pieces. Fortunately this go around there was only one missing piece.
Once the model is completed it's pretty beautiful. I have two minor gripes. My gold bars that represent the strings more bent when packing. I've tried to bend them back but it causes a hammers on the strings to get stuck. Not that big a deal I can live with it.
@Lego please consider adding a rubber band or something to slightly extend the Technic piece that stops the key motor from turning backwards and a certain point (resets the key position). Pressing the button application to reset the keys , the gears over rotate slightly because the stopping Technic pieces not long enough by a cm. So the keys are never flush when you reset them. Not being able to make the keys level detract from the beauty of this set. It seems like it would be a simple fix.
I do hope they will add more music to the application. If there's ever a version 2 of this piano, would it be possible to add light sensors to every single key? By doing this the application can know exactly what key was pressed and what sound that key should make. However this may make the sent extremely expensive. There may not be enough room in the piano to have 25 individual sensors.
The finished product is beautiful and display well. Even with the minor issues it was a lot of fun. In the end you won't be disappointed with with this model.
Looking forward to my next challenge</span>
