Perfect example of why Lego Ideas is awesome!
I absolutely loved this set. I used my son as the excuse to buy it, but in all honesty, I just wanted it for myself!
It's got incredible detail, it's very true to the show, and they've done an amazing job of creating a set based on a brand new theme, without having to create a whole heap of set-specific pieces that ruin the creativity.
Most sets that do well on Lego Ideas also take into account something customers realise the importance of, which isn't always the case with Lego... portability and storability. A lot of Lego Ideas designs (think Mini Golf for example) are made to sit wholly on one baseplate, or maybe two, like this one, which makes them so much easier to display, store, move, without having to pull them apart, which is sadly the case too often, especially if you have limited space. It also gives it a nice polished look.
My only real feedback would be that there was an opportunity to offer an expansion set, or just add a bit more to this one. It's not cheap, so a few more dollars wouldn't have mattered, to include just a little bit more. Specifically classic characters like Snuffleupagus or Grover. This was disappointing because the original designer had included a Grover minifig, and then he was removed, but there's a huge homage to new, less significant characters like Zoe, which don't really appeal to the 18+ age group that didn't grow up watching her.
Alternatively, even just making a set of additional mining available for purchase would be great, because many countries have demographic-specific characters that are very important.
Other than that, the same feedback I give every time... please please please change your boxes, so that the sets can be stored away once built. Sadly, the off-brand sets, like the Bunnings marketing sets, do this, but Lego doesn't. I could by ten times as much if we could put them away and stack them once built.
All-in-all, a gorgeous set that I was very lucky to just happen to see the day it came out, and so glad I got it. I hope more Lego Ideas designs are approved that show the same commitment to the theme, as well as understanding what the customer needs.

Great Set!
Whilst I am not a lego enthusiast I am a collector of Sesame Street products. Aside from a dent in my box, this product arrived in stellar condition. At first, when I saw the massive instruction booklet I was extremely nervous as I would describe myself as a beginner builder. However, the way the instructions were broken up into parts made the assembly process very easy. The booklet featured information about Sesame Workshop in English, Spanish, and French. Additionally, all the instructions were pictures, making it friendly to consumers from many different backgrounds. The end product turned out great! I used the Minifigures in the complementary lego set to act as the live-action characters! Overall I am very satisfied with my purchese and would recomend this product.

Nostalgic but in some areas disappointing
I was beyond excited to build this Lego set, having grown up watching Sesame Street as a child, and for the most part the building experience was wonderful and exciting. My biggest issue was how incredibly unstable and unsupportive the base is, and I wonder if it's the sort of build that you have to do in one spot and not move. I was up to building the furniture for the top floor when I had to move the set from where I was working, and the piece of the base I held broke away from the rest and the whole building fell to the floor and smashed into pieces. I nearly cried. Once I reassembled it I was much more careful with it, but still pieces of the base clicked in and out of place. It felt like I was handling a tiny newborn baby rather than a Lego piece and l think the base could have been done a lot better. I also found it difficult to read the instructions on the dark background, as I've seen others mention. My other huge disappointment was that some of the minifigures don't have legs that can bend. I couldn't believe it!! There is so much opportunity for play with this set but Elmo and Ernie can't sit or be made to look like they're walking, and of course with the bulky body and tail Big Bird can't sit down in the chairs either. I feel like this is a huge let down for anyone wanting to build the set and be able to play with it (I have kids, it's not just me playing Sesame Street on my own haha).
But those issues aside, I love it. There are so many memories in the set for kids who grew up watching the show. I would definitely recommend it, and just warn people to be very careful handling the base and be prepared that not all the characters have the same playability.
