I think it would be natural to have a merchant for the fruit/bread stand and one lord or lady for the fancy room. But it is still a great set. From my 5 year old: Best thing: We can play with it. The colour scheme is reminiscent of the older Lego castle sets, but remains tasteful and pleasing to look at. I love all the details on this set: rocks poking through the water, proper crenels and machicolations, mushrooms next to the tree, there was clearly a lot of care put into desigining this. The set is built in 3 pieces that clip onto each other, but can be detached and re-arranged to your liking for play or display. I got this and finished it in a day or two; a good build time for a large-ish lego set. What I really enjoy about this, is that it has multiple fun play features for kids, like a working drawbridge, a medieval sort of prison/dungeon break, turntable water wheel, a mechanism to hammer a sword in the blacksmith shop (those two were actually connected), and a way to put all of them together and create a castle wall. I have not constructed the other versions of the castle, so I can&rsquo;t say anything about those, but I might give some more reviews about them soon. I&rsquo;ve been buying, collecting and playing with Lego my entire life pretty much and have an entire room in my house dedicated to my passion. Being older now 98% of sets I buy are the high end sets aimed primarily at AFOL&rsquo;s. However when I was just casually browsing my local Lego Store a few months ago I spotted this Castle Set. I had absolutely no idea it was even a thing and the wave of nostalgia I got when seeing it was immeasurable. I literally felt like I was 10 years old again in a toy shop with the overarching urge to buy this set. I didn&rsquo;t just want it, I NEEDED it! Lol Fast forward a few months and I finally found some time to build it. And boy was it worth the wait! Safe to say it&rsquo;s the best set I think I have ever had or built since I was a kid. I actually couldn&rsquo;t fault a single part of it. It&rsquo;s retro but modern at the same time. Classic in its look but modern in its building techniques. If I had this set when I was 10 years old it would be, hands down, my favourite of them all. The blend of warfare with medieval domestic life being portrayed here is something a castle themed set has never done before. It breaks the mould yet does everything just perfectly to reignite all the nostalgic feels of some of the best Lego sets ever produced. Truly faultless. In fact it&rsquo;s that good that I&rsquo;m just back from the Lego store with a further two sets! And I&rsquo;m dedicating this weekend to construct the other two builds and then combine them into one ultra retro super castle! Ecstatic doesn&rsquo;t even come close to explaining how I&rsquo;m feeling! So in summary, perfect set Lego. Congratulations on every aspect. It&rsquo;s very rare a set is as affordable, and as perfect for kids as it is for long time Lego has aficionados, but this set is it. It&rsquo;s easily, 100%, the best set I&rsquo;ve owned since the 90s and I can&rsquo;t thank Lego enough for making this set! It has excellent variety of unique shapes and bright colour pieces. Lego has added great team building, patience, courage and enthusiasm in my 9 year old son. It has been perfect challenge for him at right time when he started assuming that he can conquer any lego piece. My son totally enjoyed building these castle and tower. Colour contrast and unique pieces have encouraged him to keep going. Step by step guidance has been self explanatory for him. He sure got connected to build these legos. In fact,not only he got his family involved but he invited his friends to play over. They all build Lego using timeframe competition! It was so so much fun watching them playing, screaming, shouting and cheering eachother. lego has been family activity for us,my 6 year old as well as we as parents equally enjoyed it. The Lego instructions were easy enough for my son to follow by himself, or with myself and dad. We all loved the quirky characters in the castle and all of the hidden extras like the candle and the little frog. My personal favourite is the chickens, my son was all about the dragon and I keep hearing him &lsquo;roar&rsquo;! It comes with a choice of 3 constructions to make. Choosing which construction to make takes careful consideration but comes with the added bonus of being able to unbuild and build one of the other options later. My child loved choosing which option to start building and commented on how amazing it is that a few bags of building blocks can be turned into such an amazing castle. Throughout the building process, my son talked about medieval topics that he had seen on TV and in movies and explained to me what things were for and how they were used and how he would have loved to have lived back then and experience it all first hand. The booklet was a little vague at times which I'm guessing is due to the recommended age of 9+, it was more like playing spot the difference to work out where things went sometimes. I was impressed with the detailed features and mechanisms on this castle. My child really enjoyed building it and just had to stop in between multiple times to play with the newly built features like the chain doors. It took him almost 3 hours to complete the set mostly on his own. The dragon was really cool too with it's flexibility.
