She built the entire set by herself and loved it - especially the fact that she could close and lock it. Admittedly, we got her started building lego at a very early age and it has been so fun to watch her evolve from playing with constructed sets and using her imagination to now also building the sets by herself and also building her own small MOCs. This Lego set was very nostalgic for me. Both my kid and I spent hours on building this special castle. It was so much fun. We fought and we crashed and we rebuilt it again. I had one of the best time spent with my kid. She thoroughly enjoyed it as we build one castle with one princess at a time. Lego is definitely one of the best bonding activity you can have with your kid over games. Its creative, it prompts one to follow instructions, it lets people follow a rules, a design pattern. All these are integral pillars of society that one learns as a kid. Once again we have a a castle that only vaguely resembles anything from a Disney movie. I liked when the sets centred more on certain scenes or locations from movies. Also - how many times are we going to get the same characters like Tiana, Ariel and Rapunzel over and over again when we have yet to receive a Pocahontas figure? Lego even teased an image of a Lego Pocahontas figure over a year ago on instagram, but that&rsquo;s really led to nothing. Come on Lego - you can do better. As with other Lego sets, it had extensive instruction manuals, but these were made very easy for young children to understand. A capable child, as young as six could follow the instructions with minimal supervision. The Castle itself was intricate and very detailed. Each Disney Princess had her unique part of the castle, with her signature pets and accessories included. This was a delight to make and was fun for the whole family. The kids felt a new sense of independence with completing such a big task. This product, as with all Lego products, was brilliantly made, and timeless. My son is 5 years old and it took us on average 1 hour to build each characters part of the castle (he liked to stop building to play with the characters along the way) so approximately 6 hours in total to assemble the whole thing. My son took the lead and only rarely needed assistance from me. The instructions were very clear and easy for him to follow one step at a time. The castle comes packaged in separate sections so the kids can choose which characters sections they'd like to start with and then proceed to build one at a time so they don't get overwhelmed with too many parts. We did our castle over the span of about 5 days. After the castle was complete my son loved interacting and playing with all the characters. The kids enjoyed putting the pieces together with the help of each other and their father and I. To begin with I was surprised at how many pieces there were, but once we started one pack at a time it all begun coming together and looking amazing. The instructions were very clear even my 3 year old was able to follow them. Once we were nearly half way we thought that we had lost pieces but after a quick search we were able to locate them. I love that all the small pieces come with extras incase they are lost. With four children lost pieces are bound to happen. I love how much detail is in all the lego pieces and the construction of each item. Once together the item is much larger then I initially thought, which is great for the kids to be able to play with the figurines and pieces afterwards.
