We bought a Hatch Baby first. The Hatch Baby music sounded like it was being played in a tin can and the same song would play on repeat on a 30 second loop. It was torturous. We returned it and purchased this. The buttons on the machine itself can be difficult to operate. Because of this, I don't actually ever touch the buttons. I only use the app. I hope they will update some things on the app eventually - only one person can be connected at a time. However, the app works great - and it will work better the closer you are. Our bedroom is across the hall from our baby's room and it works well. In the middle of the night if our baby wakes and has trouble settling, we turn the music on before going in the room - and almost every time it helps her settle back to sleep. We so rarely have to go in her room at night that when we do have to go in we are assessing her for signs of illness or teething. The app functions well and also offers music on the go - so awesome to play lullabies in the car when the baby gets restless, or at the doctor's office to settle your child. People will comment on the lullabies and how sweet and well behaved my infant is. Honestly, with the app it was the best thing ever! I could switch from multicolored stars to just red stars so it was easy to see yet wouldn't awake babe. It was sooo convenient to adjust settings via bluetooth. Then our world came crashing down when the app did. The deluxe soother does not have as many options on the lamp itself. I very much miss using the bluetooth app, after all it was most of the appeal. I wanted a sound machine that plugged into the power outlet as I was tired of wasting batteries of our baby's sound machine stuffy. I also wanted a star projector and a sound machine for my four year old to help him fall asleep and make his room brighter. This seemed to tick lots of boxes of what I wasn't looking for and I am so happy we bought them! The night lights are great as it features a dim light lamp as well as a consistent dimmer orange light and a star projection which changes colours. The buttons are also backlit so you can see what you're doing in the dark. It has a good variety of sounds - various lullabies and various white noise. The volume on the unit is a little finicky but better control if you use the app. It goes quite high too and the sound quality is quite good. The app is great and allows you to control the volume of the sounds and brightness of the lights. It does tend to lose contact with the unit if your smart device is too far away. It does allow you to set up timers too if you don't want the unit running all night. I love the animal projection and the sounds! I also enjoy the fact that I can control it from my phone. That said I want to throw it against the wall at night because it clicks through the start projection rapidly without me even turning the product on. I try to turn off the star projection, turn down the light, and even use my phone to do so but nothing will get rid of this ghost in the product. It's like it just chooses to be on. I actually unplug the product during the day so it doesn't turn on in the middle of the day.
