Each unit still works as well as when we originally purchased them. They are quiet, easy to use, and easy to clean. Although, it would be nice if the opening to the tank was a little larger to make cleaning the inside of the tank easier. The opening is not a problem as long as the water is replaced regularly, occasionally sanitized, and the tank stored dry/empty. I recently had to purchase a replacement unit because I accidentally dropped the 2 year old water tank, causing a leak where the pink plastic meets the base of the tank. I received it off my registry - I was attracted to it because the price was right, it does not require any filters and it said it was easy to clean. The color selection is great as well. It has, so far, proved to be very easy to clean, very quiet, and it puts out a great amount of humidified air that you can direct with the teardrop top. You do have to quickly turn over the water reservoir when refilling, but once you figure that out, it's no big deal. I like the small light when it is on - not bright at all, but just enough. And I love that you can adjust the output. At first use it was good, but when I refilled the water there was so much mess! Water would leak all over and I was constantly trying to adjust the top so that the cool mist steam would come out properly and actually go towards the crib. Another thing was I had to continously buy distilled water so it wouldn't leave the hard water residue, but living in Texas with those terrible allergies I used the humidifier almost every night for my baby's room and it was becoming pretty pricey. I began to use the house water which ultimately left the hard water residue nearly impossible to clean off! Then one day it just completely stopped working! The mist was coming out very slowly as if something was blocking it. I cleaned it as much as I could (very difficult to reach inside the middle cylinder). After 1 month, I honestly should have returned both! Neither are as quiet as they started out as. Both are a terrible pain to clean. One of them has a plastic cover over the middle tunnel which makes it impossible to clean the tunnel. And the cover is like a drain plug that has a bunch of sides and grooves to clean. I had previously owned the Crane Ultrasonic Elephant and that lasted us 5 years. My husband wants me to throw both of these out but I dread spending more money right now. We drain and rinse with vinegar water every week and they are still full of pink mold. I returned it. It still smelled ! I got another one it kind of has that smell to it too I am not sure whether I will keep it or not. He best part is that there are no filters to worried about.
