The toy is sturdy, colorful and makes a decent, not annoying sound. When I handed it to my little one I don't think she let go of it for a week. Its so much easier for little hands to operate then others we've tried which brings out pride and happiness because they ARE able to operate it by themselves. The train itself is made with durable materials that will last a long time. We're very excited to start finding Percy's friends! He is into trains and cars that move and the train goes up and down when the top is pressed and it moves/rides on the wheels. She was fairly excited to receive the new toy, but the toy failed to keep her interest for very long. According to my daughter, she would have liked the toy to be able to connect to other trains so that she can pull/push them along an imaginary track. This toy is more of a standalone item, and I do not believe there are many characters available yet. The toy, however, was a hit with my 2-year-old niece so I think it may be better suited for younger children in the toddler age range. It is also pretty durable and can withstand drops from tables and chairs. And, it can go very far on smooth surfaces and even move on carpeted floors, albeit slower and at a shorter distance.
