Growing up, Mario was my favorite videogame character, so seeing my kids enjoy him in any capacity makes me happy. This set is a lot of fun, with the Fire Mario, the flying Goomba and the Spiny, you can create numeros different scenarios. The cardboard background did not last very long, but the other pieces, played with daily, are holding up wonderfully. The kids really enjoy the size of the pieces and the ability to create their own fun, using their imaginations. I love the fact that it is a modular and can be used with other playsets. I like how Mario can use the flower power up. The characters have great detail too. I liked that it came with more than one character. The coolest thing was that the fireballs spin around the tower just like it does in the real game. He received the Mario and Bowser castles as a gift last year and this Lava castle set is a great addition to his growing collection. The little characters are so cute and seem very well made. I gave it too my 2 sons to play with &amp; within minutes the cardboard background ripped &amp; Mario's arm came off. I think I may have gotten a defective product but I still think there should be a better way to make them. The diorama is well made and he has so much fun setting up different scenarios and pretending to be in the game.
